Illegal Alien Rapist gets Jail Time!

New Haven, CT – On Thursday, Superior Court Judge David Gold sentenced Jose Angel Moreno-Hernandez, 29, to 80 years in prison for repeatedly raping and beating a woman who offered to drive him home. The victim was a co-worker at a local restaurant.
In October, Moreno-Hernandez was convicted of five counts of first-degree sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping, attempted murder and first-degree assault.
The crime occurred on March 27, 2009.
The victim testified that once in the car, her attacker propositioned her. When she refused his advances, he forced her out of the car near a park and dragged her by the hair into the woods. He then began raping her…he would do so several more times before the ordeal ended.
During the assault, Moreno-Hernandez stomped up and down on his victim, twisted her neck and repeatedly punched her with a closed fist, according to court documents.
The brutality only ended once the woman pretended to be dead.
Once Moreno-Hernandez fled the scene, the victim staggered out the woods and managed to find help. The beating left her basically blind as her eyes were swollen shut.
She told the courtroom: “He looked me in my eyes, laughed, shrugged and said he was sorry as I cried and begged for my life.”
“Everything would go white as he beat me, and if I didn’t get up fast enough, I would get pulled up by my hair, only to be raped or beaten again,” she said. “The only way I can begin to describe his demeanor during the attacks is to say I saw and felt nothing less than pure evil.”
She said Moreno-Hernandez “killed the woman that was in those woods. I now live in pain and fear constantly.”
Before the sentence was handed-down, the victim’s mother testified to her daughter’s injuries, saying: “Her face was completely covered in blood, her eyes swollen shut, but she tried to turn her head to me.”
“She told me, ‘Mama, I fought hard and he hurt me badly. I wouldn’t let him kill me, Mama. I just wanted to see your face again.’”
In addition to her ongoing physical injuries, the woman now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety. She told the judge that she now sleeps with a hammer under her pillow.
Throughout Thursday’s proceedings, the illegal alien showed no emotion and simply sat listening to the Spanish translation of his victim’s testimony through headphones. Though, he did tell the judge: “I don’t know what happened.”
Moreno-Hernandez’ defense attorney, Tejas Bhatt asked the judge for a more lenient sentence, saying: “We ask that you give him one more chance, to breathe fresh air.”
However, Judge Gold was not moved and told Moreno-Hernandez: “This is truly among the most savage and sadistic crimes I have ever seen. Your crimes reflect a level of depravity that borders on the barbaric and inhumane.”
Moreno-Hernandez who is in the country illegally from Mexico will not be eligible for parole until 2079 and will more than likely die in prison.

What a load of you know what! If you are in ANY COUNTRY ILLEGALLY you should be looking over your shoulder for the law! What makes the USA any different? If you cross into Canada or Mexico Illegally you better keep an eye out for the law. If you went to those countries and tried to live there illegally you would have a hard time! Why make it EASY here? Plain and simple folks, whatever country you go to do it LEGALLY! If grandma is here illegally, send her home to someone there to take care of her! And don't bring your kids here illegally! Be a responsible PARENT! And also it is NOT about “Immigrants” it is about Illegal Aliens (45’s) who come into a country without doing it the right way! Maybe the writer need to inform themselves in using the proper terminology or quit using the AP Playbook and be real reporters! Or maybe they are trying to sensationalize the article to make everyone think that those of us who support the rule of law are against all Immigrants! Which is another load of you know what! And for all the farmers who have been hiring these illegal’s “May your crops ROT in the ground” you have done nothing more than aid in the slavery of thousands of people by not paying a fair wage! Time to get mechanized farmers! The days of cheap labor are over with. Hasn’t this so called reporter also seen the factories and chain restaurants’ that dumped the Illegal’s and then lines formed of AMERICAN Citizens out of work applying for the jobs?

We all know that many of the administrations have failed the American public in doing the job of enforcing Immigration laws for DECADES! It is not the fault of just one regime all of them are guilty. Americans must follow the rule of law that means schools, churches, corporations and us common folks. We don’t get the privilege to pick and choose which laws we will obey; a civilized society must continue to respect the rule of law, no matter what country you live in.

Americans are tired of waiting for the federal government to make political move that will favor them in the election races, we want actions and we want them done now it is not a right, left or TeaParty thing and has absolutely nothing to do with Race. Enforce the laws we have on the books, Illegal Aliens will self deport as they are doing now, impost heavy fines and jail time for those that hire IA’s and for those that house them, cut off all local, state & federal funding.

And yes, it will be hard on those who are here Illegally, but those who made the choice to be here illegally made that choice, not the American public and we don’t want to flip the bill any longer for them. We also need to lower the number of aliens we admit into this country until our unemployment numbers are satisfactory! We cannot be the home for everyone in the world who wants the American dream! Citizens of the world who want to come here need to make a home in the country they live in, if it is not how they like it then they have to rise up and make the sacrifices just like Americans have for hundreds of years and make it better there for them and their children.

The idea of giving out our tax dollars to people who are in the country unlawfully has to come to an end! No more hand outs for schools who educate the illegals, no more food stamp or social services programs, no more drivers licenses and no more special attention to any one Race!. Yes we have heard that IA’s pay taxes, and we all know that the majority of those are using false identification to do so.

If you don’t like these ideas, that is still your right, and I hope it remains you right until they move in next door to you and take over your community!

We need immigrants! We all know it, just not now, and not such high numbers of them. We need a common sense approach to government and from what I see, neither party has enough to give you change for a wooden nickel now! We don’t care where they come from generally; they can be “Green” and have 3 eyes and if they want to assimilate into the American society and does it legally, let’s welcome them so don’t pull out the RACE CARD!

Enough of the RACE card please!, you are either American or Not! Don't describe yourself as some other name like Latino-American, German-American, Russian-American or Chinese-American first.... We want Immigrants in America, but we want them to come here LEGALLY please and assimilate. If you cannot do that you disrespect this country and you really don't deserve to be here.

The federal government “AG” Office needs to stop bringing states into the courts for doing what it refuses to do, they need to tend to business that helps America survive and protect its resources. Go after corruption, crimes that actually need to be looked into! Look into Politicians for goodness sake that should keep them busy full time!

Border Patrol Auxiliary

In an effort to confront a vicious attack against the Border Patrol Auxiliary by a well known very left leaning group known for years to be Anti-Patriotic we are addressing the following area of concern from National Leadership in the Border Patrol Auxiliary.

The Southern Poverty Law Center has declared that BPAUX is now included as a “Nativist Extremist Groups 2010” For years the SPLC has attacked many organizations around the country for being patriotic and in support of the rule of law. It seems that the SLPC is now declaring that BPAUX is somehow a “Militia” even though BPAUX has never stated that it is, and the organizations web site says it is not! We don’t quite understand where the SPLC got the idea that BPAUX is a Militia and have asked them to remove any reference to us from their web site.

BPAUX continues to assist all local, state & federal law enforcement agencies in drug & human trafficking as well as providing education to children in schools about the harms of drugs. BPAUX will continue to screen all members to ensure that there are no hidden agendas in membership, and that our members treat all persons with dignity and respect regardless of their legal status.

For the record, and to make it very clear to all current and future members of this organization, and to the SPLC. BPAUX is NOT a Militia, they never will be nor have they ever been one regardless of what other web sites or articles have written about the group. As posted online for everyone to see we exist to support local, state & federal law enforcement agencies in drug & human trafficking. BPAUX is also not a political organization, and is not involved with making fences, protesting, shooting Illegal Aliens or Drug smugglers or taking over the government! Our members undergo a background check, and a vetting prior to any actual participation. In the following 6 months every members is on a probationary period where they are closely monitored for any behavior that is unacceptable to our standards.

In the future if any organization wishes to know details about BPAUX, they would be advised to read ALL of the materials posted online for public access prior to any creative writing articles! Articles like this one from the SPLC only prove that they have not done any homework or research in investigating that BPAUX really is, they made no calls to National Leadership asking any questions about the organization, and they sent no emails to leadership asking for any clarifications.

In our opinion, the lawyers behind the SPLC should know better! Slander is a serious issue, and BPAUX National Leadership has requested that the SPLC web site remove any reference to BPAUX permanently.

Louisiana is trying to regain the congressional seat it lost after the 2010 census showed a population shift toward states with the largest numbers of illegal immigrants, such as California and Texas.

States are assigned seats in the U.S. House of Representatives based on their populations.

The Louisiana lawsuit appears to demonstrate the extent that illegal immigration is distorting U.S. population figures to the point it affects political districting.

The lawsuit also represents the first time a state has petitioned the Supreme Court directly to ask that illegal immigrants be left out of the census count.

About 11 million illegal immigrants live in the United States, according to the Census Bureau.

A new census is not required, merely a recalculation of 2010 population figures after discounting illegal immigrants, according to the Supreme Court petition filed by Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell.

If illegal immigrants are not counted, Louisiana would get seven of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives, the lawsuit says. Instead, Louisiana will get six seats.

State lawmakers were forced to redistrict their congressional seats in a special legislative session in March. The next congressional elections are scheduled for November 2012.

States with large numbers of illegal immigrants benefit “at the expense of states containing relatively few,” the lawsuit in Louisiana v. Bryson says.

Louisiana is one of five states losing congressional seats “to which they are entitled” while at least three states gain seats “to which they are not entitled,” the lawsuit says.

As a result, the votes of U.S. citizens are less valuable “in terms of electoral power” in states with the fewest illegal immigrants, the lawsuit says.

It will take 748,160 Louisiana voters to elect a congressman compared with 656,452 in California, Louisiana’s attorney general argues.

The lawsuit accuses the Census Bureau of violating a constitutional provision requiring a census every 10 years of legal residents, not of everyone who happens to be in the United States.

The lawsuit draws authority from Article 1 and the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

It also coincides with increased activism among states to act independently against illegal immigration.

Arizona and Alabama have been the most aggressive by passing laws authorizing local police to arrest suspected illegal immigrants.

Opponents filed lawsuits to block the state laws in federal court. The lawsuits are being appealed after Arizona’s law was struck down by a federal district court.

On Tuesday, illegal immigrants protesting the Alabama law were arrested outside the state capitol building.

A small group calling itself the Alabama Youth Collective sat down in the street near the state house and shouted slogans such as “undocumented, unafraid” and “stop the hate.”

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released more information from its 2010 census showing the number of foreign-born residents in the United States, both legal and illegal, has reached its highest level in American history at about 40 million.

Of those, 14 million arrived between 2000 and 2010.

Mexico is by far the source of the greatest number of immigrants at 12 million. China, Hong Kong and Taiwan together are second with about 2.1 million.

CBP Seizes $11.4M in Narcotics, $574K in Cash Last Week in Ariz.(Thursday, June 16, 2011)

Tucson, Ariz. - The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Arizona Joint Field Command is reporting the seizure of more than 18,300 pounds of narcotics with an estimated value of nearly $11.4 million and the apprehension of 2,390 illegal aliens at the Arizona border for the period of June 6–12.

The narcotics seizures consisted of more than 18,113 pounds of marijuana, 76 pounds of methamphetamines and 114 pounds of cocaine. CBP also intercepted and seized $564,451 in illegal outbound currency, eight weapons and seized 21 vehicles used for illicit purposes.

Since launching the Southwest Border Initiative in March 2009, the Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Janet Napolitano has engaged in an unprecedented effort to bring focus and intensity to Southwest border security, coupled with a reinvigorated, smart and effective approach to enforcing immigration laws in the interior of our country.

The Joint Field Command integrates the combined assets of the Tucson and Yuma Border Patrol Sectors, the Office of Field Operations' Tucson Field Office, and the Office of Air and Marine’s Tucson and Yuma Air Branches, enabling CBP leadership in the Arizona area of operations to direct an integrated approach to our mission of border security, commercial enforcement and trade facilitation.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. Tijuana – The commander of Baja California’s Second Military zone, Gen. Gilberto Landeros, announced Tuesday the seizure of illegal drugs worth more than $15 million, which he called a major blow to the Sinaloa cartel.
The two dozen reporters at his press conference, however, were more interested in what he had to say about Jorge Hank Rhon, whose house he ordered searched on June 4.
Federal authorities said the military conducted the search after three men who had been detained said an arsenal could be found at that house. The search turned up 88 weapons and nearly 10,000 live rounds and Hank Rhon and eight others were detained.
That’s why, a few hours after a judge ordered them released for insufficient evidence, casting doubt on these types of military operations and the anonymous tips that often lead to them, the questions about the case hung in the air as well as the smell of marijuana emanating from the more than 600 packages displayed at the Morelos base.
Landeros, however, avoided questions on the subject, saying he did not want to interfere with the continuing investigations.
He did, however, appear to be sending an indirect message when he said, “The success of military operations in the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking is the result of the fundamental cooperation of the citizenry through its anonymous complaints that leads to a greater confidence in the Mexican army and Mexican air force.
“We will continue to respond to anonymous tips with energy and care. We will go where we are called to go. We analyze the information and we proceed based on the law,” Landeros said.
One reporter pressed the commander, asking if Hank Rhon’s detention followed the law. He responded, “Yes, definitely,” and called an end to the press conference.
At the event he announced the confiscation in Tijuana of 10,694 pounds of marijuana, 11 pounds of marijuana seeds and 7.2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine. He said that 11 people had been detained, and two rifles, two guns, one magazine and 110 live rounds had been confiscated.
In Mexicali, meanwhile, six people had been detained and 69.5 pounds of cocaine had been seized, along with one rifle, one gun and a magazine.
The commander said the drugs had been seized in various operations June 11 to 13 and those detained had indicated that they belonged to the Sinaloa cartel.

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. -- A 39-year-old man is facing assault charges after Forsyth County deputies said he used a machete to cut another man during an argument Sunday evening at a home on Baux Mountain Road.
Deputies said when officers arrived at the home at about 8:35 p.m., they found a man suffering from cuts on his arm and torso, and another man, Laurantino Gonzalez, holding the machete.
Deputies said the two were arguing when Gonzalez got the machete and attacked the other man.
Gonzalez was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was also being held on an Immigration and Naturalization Service detainer on suspicion he is in the United States illegally.
He was being held in the Forsyth County Jail on $10,000 bail.
The victim, who wasn't identified, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies didn't say why the two were arguing.

Jesus Navarro Montes, a Mexican national from Mexicali, was convicted of second-degree murder for the death of Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar. On January 19, 2008, Navarro was driving a Hummer transporting drugs into the United States from Mexico on I-8 west of Yuma, Arizona. Border Patrol was following him and another suspect driving a Ford truck. Navarro turned around when he realized he was being followed.

Aguilar, 32-years-old and a 6 year veteran of the Border Patrol stationed in the Yuma Sector, was setting up spike strips near the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area when Navarro spotted him and intentionally ran him over and then fled to Mexico.

Navarro was captured in Mexico and extradited to the United States to stand trial. Navarro was convicted of narcotics violations in addition to the murder charge. A federal jury returned the verdict in less than two hours.

Aguilar is survived by a wife, two children and two siblings.

Pine Valley, Calif. — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 8 checkpoint near Pine Valley arrested a 25-year-old male, U.S. citizen, for attempting to smuggle more than 315 pounds of cocaine and 570 pounds of marijuana hidden in a tractor-trailer.

Agents found $3.5 million in drugs hidden behind this panel.

Agents encountered the man, a resident of Los Angeles, on Friday, at about 11:15 p.m., as he arrived at the checkpoint driving a 1998 Freightliner truck with a trailer. A Border Patrol canine team performed a cursory inspection of the truck which resulted in a positive alert to the trailer. The driver was then referred for a secondary inspection.

During secondary inspection, agents searched the front of the trailer and discovered a false wall made of metal and plywood. Behind the plywood, agents found 115 cellophane-wrapped bundles of cocaine with a total weight of 315.6 pounds and an estimated street value of $3,156,000. Agents also discovered eight metal boxes containing 570.2 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of $342,000.

The suspected smuggler and drugs were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The Freightliner truck and trailer were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

To prevent illicit smuggling of humans, drugs and other contraband, the U.S. Border Patrol maintains a high level of vigilance on major corridors of egress away from our nation’s borders. Illegal Alien Kills Houston Police Officer

(CBS/KHOU) HOUSTON, Texas - A driver accused of hitting and killing a Houston officer while intoxicated Sunday was an illegal immigrant from Mexico who had been deported previously from the United States, according to authorities.

Police said Johoan Rodriguez, 26, had a blood alcohol level three times over the legal limit and had cocaine in his pocket when he struck and killed Officer Kevin Will, 38, with his vehicle, reports CBS station KHOU.

Rodriguez was charged with intoxication manslaughter, felony evading and possession of a controlled substance, and an immigration hold was placed on him.

The station reports that Officer Will was talking to a witness to a motorcycle accident around 2 a.m. when the driver of a Volkswagen Beetle broke through a police barricade at the scene. Will reportedly pushed the witness out of the way before being hit. He reportedly died at the scene.

According to court records, Rodriguez was previously deported and then attempted to enter the U.S. by claiming to be a U.S. citizen born in Texas, using a Texas driver's license to support the claim, reports KHOU. Rodriguez reportedly managed to reenter the country some time after that.

Officer Will is survived by his wife, who is six months pregnant, and two children, 6 and 10.

Following the President Obama's speech on immigration reform in El Paso, Texas, I asked for your feedback on this issue through our Advise the Advisor program. We received thousands of responses from across the country to the following questions:

Immigration and American Competitiveness:How can immigration reform support America’s competitiveness in a 21st century economy?
Biggest Challenges to Reform: What do you think are the biggest challenges to reforming America's immigration system?
Encouraging Bipartisan Debate:What are some ways you can get a discussion going in your communities to encourage a bipartisan debate and move this issue forward?

A team at the White House reviewed all of your comments and ideas and below we’ve summarized and responded to some of what we heard from you. (a select few who know little if anything about the real borders! and probably never have been to one!)

Enforcement of Current Laws

We heard from many people who disagreed with the premise that we needed immigration reform or changes to our immigration laws. They argued that we need better enforcement of our current laws and more accountability for undocumented immigrants and the employers that hire them.

For example, Robert from Torrance, California said:

First we need to honor the immigration laws that already exists. The problem stems from a lack of enforcement, not a lack of new regulations. Simply, immigrants have always been welcome and have always contributed. (I agree totally, enforce the current laws, see how many return back home and then deal with the rest!)

It’s absolutely worth focusing on the best ways to enforce the laws that we have; that’s why the President traveled to El Paso, Texas, which is on the border with Mexico. (Really, El Paso is an example of what the actual border looks like? hello what reality are you people living in? El Paso Texas is totally controlled, there are fences all along that area! Go to some of the areas in Arizona or Texas where we don’t have any fences! Then give that same darn speech!) This Administration takes its enforcement role very seriously, and is working to do the smartest and most strategic job that we can at the border and in the interior, and we are measuring our impact and making adjustments as the data comes in to make sure we are getting it right. (sure you are, by NOT reporting actual facts about people crossing into the USA, by not putting those people into JAILs, and by not punishing those who commit crimes by these people!) On the Department of Homeland Security website you’ll find information to show how we’re doing on the border and information on our interior enforcement strategy. But in the end, we will not be able to fix what’s broken about our immigration system by enforcement alone. (IT IS NOT BROKEN, QUIT TRYING TO SPIN THE FACTS YOU JUST DON’T WANT TO ENFORCE THE LAWS) There are more than ten million unauthorized immigrants living and working in the United States, and a strategy aimed at removing them all cannot be successful. (And if you don’t try you will never know how easy it really is) Nor will enforcement fix the deficiencies in our legal immigration system, which separates families, undercuts us economically, and contributes to illegal immigration. To fix those problems, we need to reform the law. (No, you need to enforce it!)

Competing in the 21^st Century Economy

Many respondents agreed that we need to reform our immigration system to make it easier for highly skilled workers to join the workforce in the United States. Duraikumar from Morrisville, North Carolina said:

To compete in the 21st century, the century of knowledge, America needs more skilled people. The available skilled force is not enough to remain competitive….Everybody knows that the current immigration system is broken. We need to reform the immigration system to bring more skilled immigrants to support America's competitiveness in a 21st century economy.

Our immigration system was last reformed in the mid- 1990s, when cellphones and the internet were emerging technologies. Those reforms were based on the premise that allowing even a limited number of immigrants to the country might mean fewer jobs for Americans. As the President and his team work with CEOs and other business leaders around the country on a range of economic issues, the immigration issue comes up over and over again because it is essential to our ability to create jobs in the sectors of the economy that are ripe for economic growth. CEO after CEO tells us about foreign-born employees on their teams without whom we would lose hundreds of jobs, and about people they would like to hire – who have been trained at our finest universities, but who cannot get permission to stay and work in the U.S., so they instead become our competition. If they are lucky and get a visa, our laws are often too restrictive to allow their spouses to live and work here, so other countries can lure them away. As the President said in El Paso, we don’t want the next Google or Facebook to be started in India or China, we want it started here in the United States. And we need laws that make this possible. (Let them build the next Google in India & Mexico! Please then those countries could employ more people there and leave some of these jobs for us Americans who have the skills but won’t work for slave labor like they want)

Undocumented Immigrants (God I am sick of these words, there is no such thing! When on earth will these crazies get it right?)

We also heard from many of you about how we should deal with the ten million undocumented immigrants in the United States. (So now it is 10 million! What the hell happened to the other 20 Million?) Some respondents were concerned that allowing undocumented immigrants to stay in the country rewards illegal activity while others recognized the contributions that undocumented workers make to our economy. (YA THINK!) Jeff from Colorado told us:

While I am in favor of giving all current illegals citizenship for the benefit of actually collecting taxes, it would look like we are rewarding illegal behavior. We need their tax dollars and manpower to stay competitive. (BS JEFF, JUST PLAIN BS)

This is a fair point; and it’s reasonable to say that we shouldn’t reward people who are here in violation of the law. But it’s also true that we are unlikely to succeed in removing all ten million of them, and it’s not in our interest for them to remain in the U.S. working in the underground economy, where they can undercut U.S. workers because they fear standing up to employers who offer substandard wages and working conditions. President Obama believes that the right way to address this problem is to require accountability all across the board. Those of us in the federal government are accountable for enforcing the law wisely and well. Businesses should be accountable for the people that they hire, and those here illegally should be held accountable for getting on the right side of the law, paying a fine, learning English, paying taxes, and getting in line behind those who are waiting to become immigrants and citizens. (AND GO HOME TO THEIR OWN COUNTRY!)

DREAM ACT

The DREAM Act was also a popular topic in your responses, with many respondents expressing support for this legislation. Sandra from Wisconsin said:

Undocumented immigrants are already contributing to our economy. Immigration reform allows them to live openly as legal residents and make a greater investment as consumers. The DREAM Act prepares immigrant youth to take on future leadership roles by providing them with the necessary education. (Liar Liar, pants on fire)

One of our biggest disappointments in the last Congress is that, though the DREAM Act passed the House for the first time ever and it got 55 votes in the Senate which, though a majority, was not enough to break the filibuster raised against it. (ALIPAC & those members stopped it dead in it’s tracks, and we will do it every time it is brought up!) The thing about the DREAM Act is that the students that it would affect never chose to come to this country illegally; they were brought by their parents when they were too young to make the choice for themselves. They have grown up here, have succeeded in school, and are eager to continue their studies or serve their country – this country – in the military. We can’t afford to waste that kind of talent and commitment, which is why we were glad to see the DREAM Act reintroduced in the Senate in mid-May. We will keep working on this until we get it done.

Lack of Public Understanding (Lies again, the American public understands perfectly! We told you years ago we won’t take it any longer and we voted most of your sorry asses out and we will do it again and again!)

When it comes to the biggest challenges facing immigration reform, many people cited a lack of understanding by the general public and politicians in Washington about the importance of immigration reform. Robert from Athens, Georgia said:

The average U. S. citizen has no idea of the complexities involved in the U. S. work visa and permanent residency systems. They don't understand how the system separates families, creates uncertainties and day-to-day difficulties in living and working in the U. S. Educating U. S. citizens as to WHY the system is broken and how that is affecting human lives is critical.

Immigration is a complicated issue and because it gets to the heart of who we are, as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants, the debate can get emotional very quickly, which means there is often a lot of heat and not a lot of light. This is why we value your input, (No you don’t, you are a hard headed ruling class who does not listen to Americans any longer) and why the President asked people around the country to help him lift up the issue, by engaging their communities in a civil debate about the best way to move this issue forward. There are a lot of people with good stories to tell and strong cases to make about the impact of immigrants in their communities. We have developed a toolkit and a place for you to give us feedback so that you can host conversations in your communities and tell us what you learned and what we need to know. We believe that Americans are interested in informed dialogue instead of shouting matches, and we hope that many of you take up the President’s call to action.

Challenges to Immigration Reform (Who on earth wants to change it!)

Reforming our immigration system will not be an easy task, and we asked you to tell us what you see as the biggest challenges to reform. Jaques from Secaucus, New Jersey made an excellent point:

Our biggest challenge is to take the politics out of the discussion. If our representatives can forget their party affiliation and begin to think of what is really best for our country progress can be made. Fences and ditches alone will not stop the flow of the illegal. Investing in employment reforms and development in those underdeveloped countries will be the less costly and more effective solution in the long run. (Obviously this guy never has been to a actual border and seen a real fence in action)

We couldn’t agree with you more. Immigration reform laws going back throughout our history have always been bipartisan approaches to challenging problems, and that’s what we need to have here. What we hope to achieve with the President’s call to action is a civil conversation on how to fix this problem that shows the Congress that there is room for bipartisanship and a sense of urgency toward finding a solution. America is at its best when we find ways to work together, and while this issue can be difficult, we think there is a real answer within our reach if we’re willing to work together.

Nora from South Plains, New Jersey said:

There is no system that will please everyone nor be the end-all solution. However, to do nothing and ignore the plight of so many is short-sighted. We cannot compare recent and current trends to those of previous generations.

President Obama has said on many occasions that we can’t afford to just kick the can down the road because an issue is difficult. (Americans cannot afford to keep liberals in office any longer) Immigration reform is difficult, and it will take hard work and compromise to get the job done. But this is something that we have to do, not only to honor our heritage as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants, but because it is an economic necessity. The Administration will do everything it can to bring Congressional partners to the table from both sides of the aisle to figure out where we can make progress; but as the President said in El Paso, we can’t do it alone. Your input is important, and so is your engagement in the debate. We need every possible pair of hands and every voice in order to get the job done.

$4 million in cocaine found in car trunk

EAST COUNTY — The driver of a Ford Mustang was arrested with more than $4 million worth of cocaine in the trunk at the Pine Valley Border Patrol checkpoint Wednesday, authorities said.
The driver came to the checkpoint on Interstate 8 about 3:20 p.m. and appeared nervous when agents contacted him, said Agent Scott Simon.
A drug-sniffing dog reacted to the trunk of the 1998 Mustang. Simon said agents found 62 bundles of cocaine weighing a total of 436 pounds, with an estimated street value of $4.3 million.
The driver, a 19-year-old United States citizen, was arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Drugs in CAMPO, CA

Campo, Calif. — U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested seven men in two separate incidents in Campo and seized nearly 600 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $349,000.

The most recent incident occurred yesterday morning when Border Patrol agents detected several individuals with backpacks walking north from the U.S./ Mexico border through the brush. Agents responded, intercepting six individuals and discovered six backpacks hidden in the surrounding areas. The backpacks contained 27 bundles of marijuana weighing more than 337 pounds with an estimated street value of $202,000. The men, later identified as Mexican nationals illegally in the country, were taken into Border Patrol custody.

An earlier incident occurred Friday morning when Border Patrol agents working near the international border in Campo observed four individuals carrying large backpacks. Agents observed the subjects attempting to conceal the backpacks in the surrounding brush. Agents arrived in the area and conducted a search and encountered one male Mexican national and found four large backpacks. The three additional suspects absconded from the area and returned to Mexico. The backpacks contained 20 bundles of marijuana weighing more than 245 pounds with an estimated street value of $147,000.

The seven suspected smugglers and the marijuana were taken into custody and were turned over to a multi-agency drug task force.

Marijuana bales seized in cove on Catalina Island

LOS ANGELES — A beachcomber in a lonely Santa Catalina Island cove wasn't looking for shells. Authorities said he was guarding 1,500 pounds of marijuana.
Deputies seized 31 bales of pot on Tuesday and arrested a Mexican citizen on suspicion of possessing and transporting marijuana, Capt. Jeff Donahue said Wednesday.
"This guy's looking at least 10 years" in prison if he is convicted, Donahue said. The man was not immediately identified.
A sheriff's deputy and a park ranger who were "just hanging out" spotted the man at remote Little Harbor, Donahue said.
The man went back to a cove where there were blue tarpaulins and "bales of something," but when the authorities approached he tried to hide, the captain said.
A helicopter was called in to help deputies spot the fugitive. He was finally found hiding in crevasses in a rocky area.
The plastic-wrapped bales turned out to be Mexican marijuana with an estimated street value of $1.5 million.
A boat that apparently was used to land the pot was found on the north side of the island. It likely was forced there by bad weather.
"Obviously, we had a lot of rain and storms in the past few days," he said. "He was just waiting to be picked up."
Catalina draws ferry-loads of tourists, boaters, scuba divers and hikers from around the world. The quaint city of Avalon features scenic harbors, surging kelp gardens and back-country wilderness.
But when the weather's bad, it also attracts smugglers forced to seek shelter, Donahue said.
In April 2010, authorities seized 4,000 pounds of marijuana and arrested three men who claimed they were abandoned after paying a smuggler to bring them to the U.S.
They were later sentenced to about 10 years in prison.
As the United States has strengthened security at the border, Mexican smugglers have turned to the sea, outfitting so-called panga boats to run up the coast from Baja California with cargoes of dope or illegal immigrants.
"It used to be San Diego. Now, they're working their way up higher," Donahue said.

Police in Mexico have found eight decapitated bodies in the northern state of Durango.
Among the dead was the deputy governor of Durango's prison, who had been abducted on Monday.
Gerardo Galindo's head was found next to a wall bearing a threatening message by a local drug gang.
Prison officials are increasingly being targeted by drug gangs, whose jailed members often continue to run their businesses from behind bars.
In February, the security chief of a prison in the northern city of Monterrey was murdered.
His dismembered body was found in a plastic box inside a car abandoned near the prison he worked at.
Officials have not yet identified the remaining seven bodies found in Durango.
Forensic experts also uncovered another eight bodies in mass graves in Durango city, the state's capital, bringing the total discovered over the past month to 196.
Durango state governor Jorge Herrera Calderas said on Wednesday that he thought most of those buried in the mass graves had fallen victim to a "settling of scores" between drug gangs.
The state's murder rate has risen steeply in recent years as rival gangs battle for control of the drugs trade in the area.

Cocaine seized near Temecula; 2 arrested

Bundles of cocaine were found in a Mitsubishi Galant.
Two Mexican citizens were arrested Tuesday off Interstate 15 near Temecula after U.S. Border Patrol agents found nearly 30 pounds of cocaine in their car.
Agents pulled over the 2000 Mitsubishi Galant near the Rainbow Valley Road exit on north I-15 about 10 a.m. The 26 year-old driver and 37-year-old passenger were both found to be in the country illegally.
A Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the car. Agents found 12 cellophane-wrapped bundles under the rear seat containing 29.6 pounds of cocaine. The estimated street value of the drug is $296,500, said Border Patrol Agent Scott E. Simon.
The men were arrested and turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Defunding LaRaza

WHY are American citizens being forced to contribute to organizations LIKE "LA RAZA," that are threatening the overthrow of the American Southwest?
"La Raza" is made up of many immigrant groups that aim to abolish all immigration laws and teach "La Reconquista" in schools to Latino students. In essence, students are taught that Europe STOLE southwest America from Mexico and that this region must be "conquered."
…and YOUR TAX DOLLARS are paying for their activities!
"La Raza" opposes any kind of immigration enforcement, opposes border security, and efforts to stop illegal aliens from voting. They also believe that illegal aliens deserve licenses and welfare.
They believe in racially divisive education that teaches Hispanic students that everything about American laws and culture are racist.
The "La Raza" movement teaches that California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Colorado, Oregon and parts of Washington State rightfully belong to Hispanics. They urge legal and illegal immigrants to claim these lands and thus destroy the current U.S. borders.
This is what they call "Reconquista," or reconquest.
Remember the hundreds of thousands of illegals who marched on our cities and demanded their "rights", claiming we are on their territory, claiming loyalty to Mexico, and ignoring, even mocking, our rule of law? La Raza considers these protestors an "Army of Invaders" that is helping to achieve a takeover of the American Southwest through immigration…even force, if necessary.
Mexican American Legal Defense Fund founder Mario Obledo stated, "California is going to be a Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn't like it should leave. People who don't like such demographic changes should go back to Europe."
The most radical of the organizations that make up "La Raza" is Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA). This organization HATES AMERICA. Since the 1960's, this racist group has been indoctrinating students on college campuses. MEChA OPPOSES the assimilation of immigrants into the American way of life.
In 2006, MEChA posted the following statement on the University of Orgeon's website:
"In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historical heritage but also of the brutal gringo invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land of Aztlan from whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our inevitable destiny."

AmeriPAC believes that American tax dollars should NOT be used to fund radical organizations that HATE AMERICA. Is this a new form of the "Fairness Doctrine" … funding the advocacy of those who want to overthrow us and "conquer" our country?
After the American southwest is flooded with immigrants, "La Raza" plans to ethnically cleanse the area. Miguel Perez of the Cal State-Northridge MEChA chapter has said,

Commander credits operations for weakening cartels

TIJUANA – The drug-trafficking problem ends the day weapons are no longer sold because criminals will no longer feel safe, said Gilberto Landeros, commander of the Second Military Zone.
“Weapons revitalize criminal groups,” he said, speaking at Morelos barracks after presenting for the media a young man allegedly associated with the Sinaloa drug cartel who was detained Saturday morning, the result of an anonymous tip.
The commander identified the suspect as 18-year-old Héctor Manuel Muñoz Solís. He was allegedly transporting an arsenal in his SUV that included a .50 caliber Barrett rifle and a U.S.-made anti-tank weapon, still in its case along with the manual.
It’s the second rifle of this type confiscated by the Mexican army in less than 15 days in the Tijuana area.
The military also seized three hand grenades, a CN Romarm 7.62 x 39 caliber assault rifle, 79 clips for AK-47 and R-15 assault rifles, 2,205 cartridges of various calibers, one uniform with the logo of the PGJE (state police agency) and fake guns.
According to Landeros, the weapons were inside an olive green, 2002 Ford Expedition with Baja California plates. The vehicle was parked in the Ramón López Velarde neighborhood of the La Mesa district.
Landeros said that authorities are worried that these types of weapons are circulating in the city. He said military operations against traffickers have led to major weapons seizures.
“We’re continuing to push to dismantle organized crime,” Landeros said.
The commander said that these operations had hit organized crime hard because not only were large quantities of drugs and weapons confiscated but many people presumably linked to the drug cartels were captured.
Just in April, authorities seized in various operations a total of 7.71 tons of marijuana, 19 rifles, 7,679 cartridges and 212 clips for various weapons, and 25 pounds of explosives.

SAN DIEGO -- A terrorist organization whose home base is in the Middle East has established another home base across the border in Mexico.
"They are recognized by many experts as the 'A' team of Muslim terrorist organizations," a former U.S. intelligence agent told 10News.
The former agent, referring to Shi'a Muslim terrorist group Hezbollah, added, "They certainly have had successes in big-ticket bombings."
Some of the group's bombings include the U.S. embassy in Beirut and Israeli embassy in Argentina.
However, the group is now active much closer to San Diego.
"We are looking at 15 or 20 years that Hezbollah has been setting up shop in Mexico," the agent told 10News.
Since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, U.S. policy has focused on al-Qaida and its offshoots.
"They are more shooters than thinkers … it's a lot of muscles, courage, desire but not a lot of training," the agent said, referring to al-Qaida.
Hezbollah, he said, is far more advanced.
"Their operators are far more skilled … they are the equals of Russians, Chinese or Cubans," he said. "I consider Hezbollah much more dangerous in that sense because of strategic thinking; they think more long-term."
Hezbolah has operated in South America for decades and then Central America, along with their sometime rival, sometime ally Hamas.
Now, the group is blending into Shi'a Muslim communities in Mexico, including Tijuana. Other pockets along the U.S.-Mexico border region remain largely unidentified as U.S. intelligence agencies are focused on the drug trade.
"They have had clandestine training in how to live in foreign hostile territories," the agent said.
The agent, who has spent years deep undercover in Mexico, said Hezbollah is partnering with drug organizations, but which ones is not clear at this time.
He told 10News the group receives cartel cash and protection in exchange for Hezbollah expertise.
"From money laundering to firearms training and explosives training," the agent said.
For example, he tracked, along with Mexican intelligence, two Hezbollah operatives in safe houses in Tijuana and Durango
"I confirmed the participation of cartel members as well as other Hezbollah individuals living and operating out of there," he said.
Tunnels the cartels have built that cross from Mexico into the U.S. have grown increasingly sophisticated. It is a learned skill, the agent said points to Hezbollah's involvement.
"Where are the knowledgeable tunnel builders? Certainly in the Middle East," he said.
Why have Americans not heard more about Hezbollah's activities happening so close to the border?
"If they really wanted to start blowing stuff up, they could do it," the agent said.
According to the agent, the organization sees the U.S. as their "cash cow," with illegal drug and immigration operations. Many senior Hezbollah leaders are wealthy businessmen, the agent said.
"The money they are sending back to Lebanon is too important right now to jeopardize those operations," he said.
The agent said the real concern is the group's long-term goal of radicalizing Muslim communities.
"They're focusing on developing … infiltrating communities within North America," the agent told 10News.

CBP U.S. Border Patrol Uncovers Deceptive Human Smuggling Scheme In Southern California

Jacumba, Calif. — U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two male United States citizens in Jacumba on Tuesday for smuggling four undocumented Mexican nationals in a uniquely constructed compartment in the bed of a 1997 black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

At approximately 2 p.m., agents on patrol stopped the 43-year-old driver and 39-year-old passenger in a pickup truck on Old Highway 80. During questioning, agents became suspicious of the men’s nervous demeanor. A search of the vehicle revealed an opening cut into the metal wall between the passenger compartment and the bed of the truck. Subsequently, agents observed an individual attempting to conceal himself in a modified compartment. The compartment consisted of a hidden cavity built inside hollowed-out wooden construction materials lying in the bed of the truck. Agents discovered four undocumented male Mexican nationals hidden inside the compartment.

The suspected human smugglers and illegal aliens were taken into custody and transported to a local Border Patrol station for processing and further investigation. The two suspected smugglers are being held in Department of Homeland Security custody on alien smuggling charges. The vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

Costs to house Illegal Alien Criminals

The government of the United States spends in excess of $1.5 billion annually to incarcerate hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens.
Figures published in a report issued this week by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) indicate that over the past five fiscal years the number of foreign nationals jailed in federal prisons has increased by 4,000 to a total of 55,000.
A corresponding increase in the illegal alien population in state prisons was revealed, as well. The number increased by 75,000 to an astounding total of nearly 300,000.
How much does it cost states to house these criminals? Says the GAO,
We estimated that selected operating costs (i.e., correctional officer salaries, medical care, food service, and utilities) associated with incarcerating criminal aliens in our nation’s state prison systems totaled $7 billion from fiscal year 2003 through fiscal year 2009. These costs ranged from about $736 million in 2003 to $1.1 billion in 2009, about a 56 percent increase.
The GAO report summarizes the findings:
The number of criminal aliens in federal prisons in fiscal year 2010 was about 55,000, and the number of SCAAP criminal alien incarcerations in state prison systems and local jails was about 296,000 in fiscal year 2009 (the most recent data available), and the majority were from Mexico. The number of criminal aliens in federal prisons increased about 7 percent from about 51,000 in fiscal year 2005 while the number of SCAAP criminal alien incarcerations in state prison systems and local jails increased about 35 percent from about 220,000 in fiscal year 2003. The time period covered by these data vary because they reflect updates since GAO last reported on these issues in 2005. Specifically, in 2005, GAO reported that the percentage of criminal aliens in federal prisons was about 27 percent of the total inmate population from 2001 through 2004.
The study indicates that almost 25 percent of prisoners housed in federal facilities are illegal aliens.
The breakdown of the data includes the following statistical information:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) estimated that as of fiscal year 2009 the total alien — non-U.S.-citizen — population was about 25.3 million, including about 10.8 million aliens without lawful immigration status. Some aliens have been convicted and incarcerated (criminal aliens).
A story in The Hill described the political impact of the GAO’s findings:
The study comes as the immigration debate heats up on Capitol Hill and the White House. President Obama ramped up efforts this week, hosting meetings with key business, faith and political officials on the issue. And Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), the head of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus's immigration task force, is trumpeting the need for immigration reform in speeches across the country.
Meanwhile, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) used the study to back his push for a fence and a wall that runs along the U.S.-Mexico border as a way to stop people from coming into the country illegally.
Information on the provenance of the criminals highlights how easily lawbreakers pass through the porous southern border. According to the report, about 68 percent of the approximately 51,000 criminal aliens incarcerated in federal prison at the end of December 2010 were citizens of Mexico, and almost 90 percent were citizens of one of eight countries, including Mexico.
Congressman King proposes a familiar solution to the problem:
We have to secure our southern border with a fence, a wall and a fence. That would drastically reduce the ability of criminal aliens to enter the United States, providing needed relief to overburdened state prison systems and to taxpayers. We also have to do a better job of removing criminal aliens who are apprehended.
The anecdotal reports of runaway recidivism among illegal aliens are supported by the figures published in the GAO report.
The data supplied by the GAO reveal that “about 249,000 criminal aliens were arrested about 1.7 million times, averaging about 7 arrests per criminal alien.”
The types of crime being committed over and over by these illegals are serious, says the GAO:
About 50 percent of the criminal aliens in our study population were arrested at least once for either assault, homicide, robbery, a sex offense, or kidnapping. About half of the criminal aliens were arrested at least once for a drug violation.
Despite the rising costs, the federal government continues to subsidize the cost of incarcerating the massive illegal alien criminal population through the program known as the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP).
The federal government bears these incarceration costs for federal prisons and reimburses states and localities for portions of their costs through the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
To compile the data published in the report, the GAO analyzed a random sample of 1,000 criminal aliens.

The Department of State has issued this Travel Warning to inform U.S. citizens traveling to and living in Mexico about the security situation in Mexico. This Travel Warning supersedes the Travel Warning for Mexico dated September 10, 2010 to consolidate and update information about the security situation and to advise the public of additional restrictions on the travel of U.S. government personnel.

Millions of U.S. citizens safely visit Mexico each year, including more than 150,000 who cross the border every day for study, tourism or business and at least one million U.S. citizens who live in Mexico. The Mexican government makes a considerable effort to protect U.S. citizens and other visitors to major tourist destinations. Resort areas and tourist destinations in Mexico generally do not see the levels of drug-related violence and crime reported in the border region and in areas along major trafficking routes. Nevertheless, crime and violence are serious problems and can occur anywhere. While most victims of violence are Mexican citizens associated with criminal activity, the security situation poses serious risks for U.S. citizens as well.

It is imperative that you understand the risks involved in travel to Mexico and how best to avoid dangerous situations. Common-sense precautions such as visiting only legitimate business and tourist areas during daylight hours, and avoiding areas where criminal activity might occur, can help ensure that travel to Mexico is safe and enjoyable.

General Conditions

Since 2006, the Mexican government has engaged in an extensive effort to combat transnational criminal organizations (TCOs). The TCOs, meanwhile, have been engaged in a vicious struggle to control drug trafficking routes and other criminal activity. According to Government of Mexico figures, 34,612 people have been killed in narcotics-related violence in Mexico since December 2006. More than 15,000 narcotics-related homicides occurred in 2010, an increase of almost two-thirds compared to 2009. Most of those killed in narcotics-related violence since 2006 have been members of TCOs. However, innocent persons have also been killed as have Mexican law enforcement and military personnel.

There is no evidence that U.S. tourists have been targeted by criminal elements due to their citizenship. Nonetheless, while in Mexico you should be aware of your surroundings at all times and exercise particular caution in unfamiliar areas. Bystanders, including U.S. citizens, have been injured or killed in violent incidents in various parts of the country, especially, but not exclusively in the northern border region, demonstrating the heightened risk of violence throughout Mexico. TCOs, meanwhile, engage in a wide-range of criminal activities that can directly impact U.S. citizens, including kidnapping, armed car-jacking, and extortion that can directly impact U.S. citizens. The number of U.S. citizens reported to the Department of State as murdered in Mexico increased from 35 in 2007 to 111 in 2010.

The Mexican government has deployed federal police and military personnel throughout the country as part of its efforts to combat the TCOs. U.S. citizens traveling on Mexican roads and highways may encounter government checkpoints, which are often staffed by military personnel. You are advised to cooperate with personnel at government checkpoints and mobile military patrols. TCOs have erected their own unauthorized checkpoints, and killed or abducted motorists who have failed to stop at them.

Violence along Mexican roads and highways is a particular concern in the northern border region. As a result, effective July 15, 2010, the U.S. Mission in Mexico imposed restrictions on U.S. government employees' travel. U.S. government employees and their families are not permitted to drive from the U.S.-Mexico border to or from the interior of Mexico or Central America. Travel by vehicle is permitted between Hermosillo and Nogales.

While violent incidents have occurred at all hours of the day and night on both modern toll ("cuotas") highways and on secondary roads, they have occurred most frequently at night and on isolated roads. To reduce risk, you are strongly urged to travel only during daylight hours throughout Mexico, to avoid isolated roads, and to use toll roads whenever possible. For more information on road safety and crime along Mexico's roadways, see the Department of State's Country Specific Information.

Due to ongoing violence and persistent security concerns, you are urged to defer non-essential travel to the states of Tamaulipas and Michoacán, and to parts of the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Sinaloa, Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi and Jalisco. Details on these locations, and other areas in which travelers should exercise caution, are below.

Violence along the U.S. - Mexico Border

You should be especially aware of safety and security concerns when visiting the northern border states of Northern Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas. Much of the country's narcotics-related violence has occurred in the border region. More than a third of all U.S. citizens killed in Mexico in 2010 whose deaths were reported to the U.S. government were killed in the border cities of Ciudad Juarez and Tijuana. Narcotics-related homicide rates in the border states of Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas have increased dramatically in the past two years.

Carjacking and highway robbery are serious problems in many parts of the border region and U.S. citizens have been murdered in such incidents. Most victims who complied with carjackers at these checkpoints have reported that they were not physically harmed. Incidents have occurred during the day and at night, and carjackers have used a variety of techniques, including bumping moving vehicles to force them to stop and running vehicles off the road at high speed. There are some indications that criminals have particularly targeted newer and larger vehicles with U.S. license plates, especially dark-colored SUVs. However, victims' vehicles have included those with both Mexican and American registration and vary in type from late model SUVs and pick-up trucks to old sedans.

If you make frequent visits to border cities, you should vary your route and park in well-lighted, guarded and paid parking lots. Exercise caution when entering or exiting vehicles.

Large firefights between rival TCOs or TCOs and Mexican authorities have taken place in towns and cities in many parts of Mexico, especially in the border region. Firefights have occurred in broad daylight on streets and in other public venues, such as restaurants and clubs. During some of these incidents, U.S. citizens have been trapped and temporarily prevented from leaving the area. The location and timing of future armed engagements cannot be predicted. You are urged to defer travel to those areas mentioned in this Travel Warning and to exercise extreme caution when traveling throughout the northern border region.

Northern Baja California: Targeted TCO assassinations continue to take place in Northern Baja California, including the city of Tijuana. You should exercise caution in this area, particularly at night. In late 2010, turf battles between criminal groups proliferated and resulted in numerous assassinations in areas of Tijuana frequented by U.S. citizens. Shooting incidents, in which innocent bystanders have been injured, have occurred during daylight hours throughout the city. In one such incident, an American citizen was shot and seriously wounded.

Nogales and Northern Sonora: You are advised to exercise caution in the city of Nogales. Northern Sonora is a key region in the international drug and human trafficking trades, and can be extremely dangerous for travelers. The U.S. Consulate requires that armored vehicles are used for official travel in the consular district of Nogales, including certain areas within the city of Nogales. The region west of Nogales, east of Sonoyta, and from Caborca north, including the towns of Saric, Tubutama and Altar, and the eastern edge of Sonora bordering Chihuahua, are known centers of illegal activity. You should defer non-essential travel to these areas.

You are advised to exercise caution when visiting the coastal town of Puerto Peñasco. In the past year there have been multiple incidents of TCO-related violence, including the shooting of the city's police chief. U.S. citizens visiting Puerto Peñasco are urged to cross the border at Lukeville, AZ, to limit driving through Mexico and to limit travel to main roads during daylight hours.

Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua: The situation in the state of Chihuahua, specifically Ciudad Juarez, is of special concern. Ciudad Juarez has the highest murder rate in Mexico. Mexican authorities report that more than 3,100 people were killed in Ciudad Juarez in 2010. Three persons associated with the Consulate General were murdered in March, 2010. You should defer non-essential travel to Ciudad Juarez and to the Guadalupe Bravo area southeast of Ciudad Juarez. U.S. citizens should also defer non-essential travel to the northwest quarter of the state of Chihuahua. From the United States, these areas are often reached through the Columbus, NM, and Fabens and Fort Hancock, TX, ports-of-entry. In both areas, U.S. citizens have been victims of narcotics-related violence. There have been incidents of narcotics-related violence in the vicinity of the Copper Canyon in Chihuahua.

Durango, Coahuila and Zacatecas: Between 2006 and 2010, the number of narcotics-related murders in the State of Durango increased dramatically. Several areas in the state have seen sharp increases in violence and remain volatile and unpredictable. U.S. government employees are restricted from traveling to the cities of Durango and Gomez Palacio. You should defer non-essential travel to these cities.

The State of Coahuila has also experienced an increase in violent crimes and narcotics-related murders. U.S. government employees are restricted from traveling to the area known as "La Laguna", including the city of Torreon, and the city of Saltillo within the state. You should defer non-essential travel to this area, as well as to the cities of Piedras Negras and Ciudad Acuña due to frequent incidents of TCO-related violence.

The northwestern portion of the state of Zacatecas has become notably dangerous and insecure. Robberies and carjackings are occurring with increased frequency and both local authorities and residents have reported a surge in observed TCO activity. This area is remote, and local authorities are unable to regularly patrol it or quickly respond to incidents that occur there. The Consulate General in Monterrey restricts travel for U.S. government employees to the city of Fresnillo and the area extending northwest from Fresnillo along Highway 45 (Fresnillo-Sombrete) between Highways 44 and 49. In addition, highway 49 northwards from Fresnillo through Durango and in to Chihuahua is isolated and should be considered dangerous. You should defer non-essential travel to these areas.

Monterrey and Nuevo Leon: The level of violence and insecurity in Monterrey remains elevated. Local police and private patrols do not have the capacity to deter criminal elements or respond effectively to security incidents. As a result of a Department of State assessment of the overall security situation, on September 10, 2010, the Consulate General in Monterrey became a partially unaccompanied post with no minor dependents of U.S. government employees permitted.

TCOs continue to use stolen cars and trucks to create roadblocks or "blockades" on major thoroughfares, preventing the military or police from responding to criminal activity in Monterrey and the surrounding areas. Travelers on the highways between Monterrey and the United States (notably through Nuevo Laredo and Matamoros/Reynosa) have been targeted for robbery that has resulted in violence. They have also been caught in incidents of gunfire between criminals and Mexican law enforcement. In 2010, TCOs kidnapped guests out of reputable hotels in the downtown Monterrey area, blocking off adjoining streets to prevent law enforcement response. TCOs have also regularly attacked local government facilities, prisons and police stations, and engaged in public shootouts with the military and between themselves. Pedestrians and innocent bystanders have been killed in these incidents.

The number of kidnappings and disappearances in Monterrey, and increasingly throughout Monterrey's consular district, is of particular concern. Both the local and expatriate communities have been victimized and local law enforcement has provided little to no response. In addition, police have been implicated in some of these incidents. Travelers and residents are strongly advised to lower their profile and avoid displaying any evidence of wealth that might draw attention.

Tamaulipas: You should defer non-essential travel to the state of Tamaulipas. In an effort to prevent the military or police from responding to criminal activity, TCOs have set up roadblocks or "blockades" in various parts of Nuevo Laredo in which armed gunmen carjack and rob unsuspecting drivers. These blockades occur without warning and at all times, day and night. The Consulate General prohibits employees from entering the entertainment zone in Nuevo Laredo known as "Boys Town" because of concerns about violent crime in that area. U.S. government employees are currently restricted from travelling on the highway between Nuevo Laredo and Monterrey, as well as on Mexican Highway 2 towards Reynosa or Ciudad Acuña due to security concerns.

Be aware of the risks posed by armed robbery and carjacking on state highways throughout Tamaulipas. In January 2011, a U.S. citizen was murdered in what appears to have been a failed carjacking attempt. While no highway routes through Tamaulipas are considered safe, many of the crimes reported to the U.S. Consulate General in Matamoros took place along the Matamoros-Tampico highway, particularly around San Fernando and the area north of Tampico.

Crime and Violence in Other Parts of Mexico

While security concerns are particularly acute in the northern border region, you should be aware of situations that could affect your safety in other parts of Mexico.

Sinaloa and Southern Sonora: One of Mexico's most powerful TCOs is based in the state of Sinaloa. Since 2006, more homicides have occurred in the state's capital city of Culiacan than in any other city in Mexico, with the exception of Ciudad Juarez. You should defer non-essential travel to Culiacan and exercise extreme caution when visiting the rest of the state. Travel off the toll roads in remote areas of Sinaloa is especially dangerous and should be avoided.

In the last year, the city of Mazatlan has experienced a level of violence, primarily confrontations between TCOs, not seen before. In 2010 there were over 300 narcotics-related murders within the city, compared to fewer than 100 in 2009. You are encouraged to visit Mazatlan during daylight hours and limit the time you spend outside tourist centers. Exercise caution during late night and early morning hours when most violent crimes occur.

Highway robbery and carjacking are ongoing security concerns for travelers on the Mexican toll road Highway 15 in Sonora and on Maxipista Benito Juarez in Sinaloa. These highways are known to be particularly dangerous at night when roadside robberies occur. When traveling in Sinaloa, U.S. government employees are required to use armored vehicles and may only travel in daylight hours.

San Luis Potosi: In February 2011, one U.S. government employee was killed and another wounded when they were attacked in their U.S. government vehicle on Highway 57 near Santa Maria del Rio. The incident remains under investigation. Cartel violence and highway lawlessness have increased throughout the state and are a continuing security concern. All official U.S. government employees and their families have been advised to defer travel on the entire stretch of highway 57D in San Luis Potosi as well as travel in the state east of highway 57D towards Tamaulipas. You should defer non-essential travel in these areas.

Nayarit and Jalisco: Official U.S. government employees are prohibited from traveling to Colotlan, Jalisco, and Yahualica, Jalisco, both near the Zacatecas border, because of an increasingly volatile security situation. Concerns include roadblocks placed by individuals posing as police or military personnel and recent gun battles between rival TCOs involving automatic weapons. You should defer non-essential travel to these cities. In addition, the border areas between Jalisco state and the states of Zacatecas and Michoacán, as well as southern Nayarit state including the city of Tepic, have been sites of violence and crime involving TCOs. You should exercise extreme caution when traveling in these areas. Due to recent TCO-mounted road blockades between the Guadalajara airport and the Guadalajara metropolitan areas, U.S. government employees are only authorized to travel between Guadalajara and the Guadalajara Airport during daylight hours.

Michoacán: You should defer non-essential travel to the State of Michoacán, which is home to another of Mexico's most dangerous TCOs, "La Familia". Attacks on government officials and law enforcement and military personnel, and other incidents of TCO-related violence, have occurred throughout Michoacan, including in and around the capital of Morelia and in the vicinity of the world famous butterfly sanctuaries in the eastern part of the State.

Guerrero and Morelos: You should exercise extreme caution when traveling in the northwestern part of the state of Guerrero, which has a strong TCO presence. Do not take the dangerous, isolated road through Ciudad Altamirano to the beach resorts of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo and exercise caution traveling on the coastal road between Acapulco and Ixtapa due to the risk of roadblocks and carjackings. Numerous incidents of narcotics-related violence have occurred in the city of Cuernavaca, in the State of Morelos, a popular destination for American language students.

Downtown Acapulco and surrounding areas have seen a significant increase in narcotics-related violence in the last year. Incidents have included daylight gunfights and murders of law enforcement personnel and some have resulted in the deaths of innocent bystanders. Due to the unpredictable nature of this violence, you should exercise extreme caution when visiting downtown Acapulco. To reduce risks, tourists should not visit the downtown area at night and should remain in clearly identifiable tourist areas. In general, the popular tourist area of Diamante just south of the city has not been affected by the increasing violence.

Improvised Explosive Device Discovered On An Overpass In Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE - Police say a passerby on the southbound side of Highway 77 noticed what looked like a grenade near the FM 1732 overpass and alerted authorities around 5 p.m. Sunday.

The improvised explosive device or I-E-D was disarmed by a bomb squad using a robot. No one was hurt. Parts of Highway 77 were closed for several hours.

Police are continuing to investigate.

San Luis, Ariz. - Over the weekend, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers apprehended a homicide suspect who was attempting to flee the U.S. to avoid prosecution. They also arrested a man for attempting to smuggle heroin into the country by hiding the narcotics inside his shoes.

On April 16, CBP officers who were conducting outbound operations at the San Luis port selected a man walking towards Mexico for further inspection. Subsequently, officers discovered the man did not possess immigration documents authorizing him to live or work in the U.S. A records check revealed the man was wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in the Phoenix area just hours earlier. The man was taken into custody and turned over to the Phoenix Police Department.

“The sharing of information between law enforcement agencies is critical,” said Port Director William K. Brooks. “I am extremely proud of how our CBP officers use this information to apprehend a dangerous criminal so he can face justice.”

On that same day, CBP officers at the San Luis port were screening travelers entering the country through the pedestrian lanes when they encountered a 27-year-old Mexican citizen. During the primary interview, officers observed the man’s nervous behavior and referred him for a secondary inspection. Subsequently, CBP officers found each of the man’s shoes contained one package of heroin. The seized narcotics weighed more than two pounds with an estimated value of $32,000. The man was taken into custody and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

2 Mexican men sentenced to prison for attempting to export munitions

MCALLEN, Texas - Two illegal aliens from Mexico were sentenced on Thursday to federal prison for their roles in attempting to export munitions from the United States without a license, announced U.S. Attorney José Angel Moreno, Southern District of Texas. The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Sergio Perez-Contreas, 72, was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment, while Jose Jesus Miramontes-Duarte, 59, received a 30-month sentence by Chief U.S. District Judge Ricardo H. Hinojosa during a hearing held on Thursday. Both defendants were convicted of attempting to export munitions without a license in June 2010 after pleading guilty to the felony offense.

According to court documents, the convictions and sentences stem from an investigation by ICE HSI agents. On March 5, 2009, they observed Perez-Contreras leaving the business of a local federal firearms licensee (FFL) with several packages. He then entered a taxi, and ultimately arrived at a warehouse in south McAllen. Once he arrived at the warehouse, Perez-Contreras met with Miramontes-Duarte and transferred the packages from the taxi to the cab of a tractor trailer driven by Miramontes-Duarte. Perez-Contreras then left in the taxi and ultimately arrived at the Hidalgo, Texas, Port of Entry.

At the port of entry, Perez-Contreras was stopped by ICE HSI and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents as he attempted to depart the United States. In his possession, Perez-Contreras had a receipt for the purchase of 5,000 small pistol primers, 1,400 large pistol primers, 1,100 assorted calibers of rifle bullets, 19 pounds of smokeless power, and two rifle barrel blanks from the FFL where he had been seen earlier in the day. With these munitions, about 7500 rounds of pistol and rifle ammunition could be manufactured.

Meanwhile, Miramontes-Duarte left the warehouse area and was seen driving to another location where he rearranged the firearms parts and ammunition components in the cab of his truck. When Miramontes-Duarte attempted to depart the United States through the Pharr, Texas, Port of Entry, he was also stopped by ICE HSI agents and CBP officers. The ammunition components for which his co-defendant had the receipt were discovered in the cab of his truck. Further investigation revealed that Perez-Contreras had illegally exported munitions 12 other times.

Both Perez-Contreras and Miramontes-Duarte have been in federal custody without bond since their arrest on March 5, 2009. They will remain in custody pending transfer to a Bureau of Prisons facility where they will serve out their sentences.

Perez-Contreras and Miramontes-Duarte are subject to deportation after they complete their prison sentences. The court has further ordered each man to serve a two-year-term of supervised release. These conditions will be enforceable if either man returns to the United States, even illegally. If they fail to abide by any condition, an additional prison sentence may be added.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Schammel, Southern District of Texas, prosecuted the case.

Cartels are killing children now in Mexico!

SAN LUIS POTOSI, Mexico — On a sunny afternoon last week, when the streets of this mountain mining city were filled with schoolchildren and parents hurrying home from work, gunmen entered a tiny apartment and started firing methodically.

The assassins killed everyone: the family matriarch and her adult son; her daughter and son-in-law, and finally, her 22-month-old granddaughter.

The child was not killed by mistake. Preliminary forensics indicate that the gunmen, unchallenged, pointed a pistol at Scarlett Ramirez and fired.

In Mexico’s brutal drug war, children are increasingly victims, innocents caught in the crossfire, shot dead alongside their parents — and intentionally targeted.

According to U.S. and Mexican experts, competing criminal groups appear to be killing children to terrorize the population or prove to rivals that their savagery is boundless, as they fight over local drug markets and billion-dollar trafficking routes to voracious consumers in the United States.

“It worries us very much, this growth in the attacks on little children. They use them as a vehicle to send a message,” said Juan Martin Perez, director of the Child Rights Network in Mexico. “Decapitations and hanging bodies from bridges send a message. Killing children is an extension of this trend.”

The children’s rights group estimates that 994 people younger than 18 were killed in drug-related violence between late 2006 and late 2010, based on media accounts, which are incomplete because newspapers are often too intimidated to report drug-related crimes.

Few of the crimes are solved. “What worries us is the impunity in all of these cases,” Perez said. “If there is impunity, this use of children to send messages will grow.”

Government figures include all homicides of people younger than 17, capturing victims whose murders might not have been related to drugs or organized crime. In 2009, the last year for which there is data, 1,180 children were killed, half in shootings.

Recent, sensational killings of children — shot in a car seat, dumped in a field with a bullet in the head, killed as their grandmothers cradled them — have shocked Mexicans and shaken their faith that family is sacred, even to the criminal gangs.

“Before, they went after their enemy. Now, they go after every member of the family, indiscriminately,” said Martin Garcia Aviles, a federal congressman from the Party of the Democratic Revolution from the state of Michoacan.

A Chihuahua state police commander was attacked as she carried her 5-year-old daughter to school two weeks ago. Both died of multiple gunshot wounds.

In February, assassins went hunting for a Ciudad Juarez man, but the intended target wasn’t home, so they killed his three daughters instead, ages 12, 14 and 15.

In March, a young woman was bound and gagged, shot and left in a car in Acapulco. Her 4-year-old daughter lay slumped beside her, killed with a single bullet to her chest. She was the fifth child killed in drug violence in the resort city in one bloody week.

“They kill children on purpose,” said Marcela Turati, author of “Crossfire,” a new book on the killings of civilians in Mexico’s drug war. “In Juarez, they told a 7-year-old boy to run, and shot his father. Then they shot the little boy.”

Once off-limits

Historians of the Mexican drug trafficking culture say that until recently children were considered off-limits in the rough code honored by crime bosses, who once upon a time liked to portray themselves as Robin Hoods dealing dope to gringos and donating alms to the poor.

“The rules no longer apply — rather, there are no rules,” said Bruce Bagley, an expert in the drug trade at the University of Miami. When the monolithic Institutional Revolutionary Party ruled Mexico, until 2000, Bagley said excess violence was tamped down by the state, which controlled the drug bosses with selective coercion and complicity.

Now no such “pacts” exist, Bagley said.

U.S. and Mexican officials say the grotesque violence is a symptom the cartels have been wounded by police and soldiers. “It may seem contradictory, but the unfortunate level of violence is a sign of success in the fight against drugs,” said Michele Leonhart, head of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The cartels “are like caged animals, attacking one another,” she added.

Earlier this month, the award-winning poet and commentator Javier Sicilia rallied at the main plaza in Cuernavaca and appealed directly to the drug lords “to return to your codes, where civilians are not touched, where civilians are sacred, where children are sacred.”

Sicilia’s 24-year-old son was found dead in March. His body and four others were stuffed into a compact car, their faces, wrists and ankles wrapped in tape, victims of suffocation. Next to the corpses was a message that read: “This happened to you for making anonymous calls to the military” and was signed “the Gulf Cartel.”

Young recruits

Children as young as 10 have been employed by crime gangs to watch over street corners or sell drugs, and in some cases to kill. In December, Mexican authorities arrested a 14-year-old boy who allegedly confessed that he worked as an assassin for $250 a week.

Edgar Jimenez Lugo told reporters that a drug trafficking gang kidnapped him when he was 11. “I participated in four executions. I was drugged. They said they would kill me,” he said.

Here in San Luis Potosi, violence between the La Familia cartel and ruthless Zetas group has roiled the once-quiet streets. People familiar with the latest murder of a child said the killers came looking for a rival. They didn’t find him — but they found his family.

“What malice, to kill the little girl,” said a neighbor whose children had played with Scarlett. He shook his head. “It’s incredible.”

Neighbors said the family worked hard. The little girl’s grandmother took in laundry. Her parents flipped hamburgers nearby.

Experts worry about the public health consequences of such violence. Schoolchildren in Michoacan were asked to create art for a contest commemorating the Mexican bicentennial, depicting scenes from everyday life in “the Mexico I live in.”

In late March, educators published a book of children’s drawings, which included a drug tough throwing a grenade at a federal policeman and a man being shot in the stomach with an automatic weapon.

U.S. Border Patrol Seizes More Than $264K of Marijuana and Currency in San Diego

San Diego - Early Tuesday morning, U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two U.S. citizens, one male and one female, and a female Jamaican national suspected of smuggling nearly 300 pounds of marijuana near the Border Patrol checkpoint in Temecula, Calif.

Agents stopped two suspicious vehicles, a 2003 Volvo SUV and a 2011 Chevrolet Impala rental car traveling in tandem on southbound Interstate 15 near Mission Road. At approximately 2:30 a.m., agents questioned the driver of the Volvo, a 22-year-old male resident of Los Angeles, and the 31-year-old driver and 21-year-old passenger of the Impala. Agents became suspicious of the nervous demeanor and inconsistent answers of the three individuals.

A Border Patrol K-9 team was summoned and performed a cursory inspection of the two vehicles, both resulting in a positive alert. Agents performed a search of the Volvo and discovered 63 cellophane-wrapped marijuana bundles with a total weight of 295 pounds and an estimated street value of nearly $177,000. A subsequent search of the Impala revealed $25,294 in cash located in the center console.

The suspected drug smugglers, narcotics, currency and Volvo were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Later in the day, Border Patrol agents assigned to the I-8 checkpoint near Pine Valley, Calif., arrested a 48-year-old female Mexican national for attempting to smuggle 103 pounds of marijuana in the tires of a 1995 GMC SUV.

A Border Patrol K-9 team inspection resulted in a positive alert to all four of the GMC’s tires. Agents removed the tires and uncovered more than 103 pounds of marijuana concealed inside with an estimated street value of more than $62,000. The suspected smuggler and narcotics were turned over to a multi-agency drug task force. The 1995 GMC SUV was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

To prevent the smuggling of humans, drugs and other contraband, the U.S. Border Patrol maintains a strong enforcement posture on major routes of egress from the border, including the Interstate 15 corridor. Since the beginning of the 2011 fiscal year, agents in the San Diego Sector have seized more than 52,529 pounds of marijuana.

U.S. Border Patrol agents plan to increase their Orange County presence as maritime smuggling of people and drugs is on the rise, officials said.
"You're going to see a lot more Border Patrol agents in your area," Steve McPartland, supervising agent at the Border Patrol station south of San Clemente, told about 60 people at a town hall meeting Thursday night in Dana Point.

The patrol's San Diego sector plans to increase its presence in Orange County as more immigrant smugglers land on the county's coast. More than 20 people from this boat were detained.
It was the first time the Border Patrol had held a meeting to address its new battle on the sea following at least four recent apprehensions at local beaches of groups of people suspected of sailing to the country illegally.
In one those cases, Feb. 15, agents apprehended 18 Mexican nationals in a boat off Dana Point. That was a day after a similar group was apprehended at San Onofre State Beach.
Officials point to tighter scrutiny of land borders as a cause for the new sea smuggling routes. They say that despite the rise in illegal operations on the water, the overall number of people trying to enter the country illegally has dropped.
The Border Patrol's San Diego sector, which covers San Diego, Orange and Los Angeles counties, has held many town halls in border towns to talk about how to report suspicious activity connected to land crossings. But now agents are preparing coastal communities to do the same and described Dana Pont Harbor as an optimum spot for smuggling.
"Quite frankly, we can't be everywhere at once," McPartland said.
He flipped through a slide show of images of panga boats, water scooters and sailboats, all of which could be used by smugglers. In fiscal 2010, which began in October 2009, federal agents apprehended 867 people coming in from the sea, according to Border Patrol records. In fiscal 2009, maritime apprehensions were about half that, and a quarter as much the year before. Paul Beeson, chief patrol agent of the San Diego sector, said apprehensions are likely to reach beyond 2010's numbers this year.
The boats often start at Rosarito Beach, Mexico, go out 40 miles and then head north. Many stop on the San Diego coast, but recently more are stopping along the 42 miles of Orange County coastline, often in the pre-dawn hours, with the occupants rushing toward vehicles ready to spirit them away.
"Orange County has become the issue now. It's the center of the action," McPartland said.
If you see a small boat, a life vest or gas cans and other fuel containers along the beach, report it, agents said.
And while human smuggling is increasing onshore, more drugs are being transported in ultra light aircraft – a common occurrence along the Arizona border that is creeping into California as well, officials said. Pleasure boats also are beginning to be used more for drug transport because they are unexpected, McPartland said.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) announced today the arrests of 678 gang members and associates from 133 different gangs during Project Southern Tempest, an intensive ICE HSI-led law enforcement operation executed in 168 U.S. cities targeting gangs affiliated with drug trafficking organizations (DTO).
Through Project Southern Tempest, ICE HSI agents worked side by side with 173 of our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to apprehend individuals from 13 gangs affiliated with DTOs in Mexico. More than 46 percent of those arrested during this operation were members or associates of gangs with ties to DTOs.
During this operation, which started in December 2010 and culminated in February 2011, the ICE HSI-led Salt Lake City Operation Community Shield Task Force arrested the 20,000 gang member since inception of the anti-gang program in 2005.
Transnational criminal street gangs have significant numbers of foreign-national members and are frequently involved in human smuggling and trafficking; narcotics smuggling and distribution; identity theft and benefit fraud; money laundering and bulk cash smuggling; weapons smuggling and arms trafficking; cyber crimes; export violations; and other crimes with a nexus to the border.
"Project Southern Tempest is the largest ever ICE-led gang enforcement operation targeting gangs with ties to drug trafficking organizations," said ICE Director John Morton. "Through gang enforcement operations like Project Southern Tempest and Project Big Freeze last year, ICE will continue to disrupt and dismantle these transnational gangs and rid our streets not only of drug dealers, but the violence associated with the drug trade."
"ICE is an important partner in bringing federal prosecutions against dangerous gang members," said U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia Sally Quillian Yates. "Since Operation Community Shield began in 2005, ICE investigations in our District alone have resulted in numerous indictments against gang members, including charges for seven separate murders, at least five carjackings, several armed robberies and over 40 criminal immigration offenses. The partnership between ICE and our office serves to make neighborhoods stronger and safer by removing and prosecuting criminal gang members."
"By pooling our resources and our intelligence, we've succeeded in taking some very dangerous people off of the streets," said South Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Snyder. "Our goal in partnering with ICE and other law enforcement agencies is to make our cities safer. The gang members and drug dealers targeted in this operation have no regard for the law and their continued illegal activities degrade the quality of life in our communities."
Of the 678 gang members or associates arrested:
they hailed from 133 different gangs;
447 were charged with criminal offenses;
231 were administrative arrests;
322 had violent criminal histories;
421 were foreign nationals.
In addition to the 678 arrests, 164 individuals were arrested for federal and/or state criminal violations, or administrative immigration violations. Of the 164, 117 were charged with criminal offenses, 46 had violent criminal histories, 47 were administrative arrests and 78 were foreign nationals. In addition to the arrests, during the operation agents seized 86 firearms, eight pounds of methamphetamine, 30 pounds of marijuana, one pound of cocaine, more than $70,000 in U.S currency and two vehicles.
Like any street gang, these transnational gangs also have a propensity toward violence. Their members committed a number of violent crimes including robbery, extortion, assault, rape and murder.
Among those arrested during Project Southern Tempest were:
Andrey Melnikov, 36, a Russian national with legal permanent residence status and an associate of the Valleros gang was arrested in Oceanside, Calif., for auto theft. His criminal convictions include possession of weapon on school grounds/carrying loaded firearm public place and felon in possession of a firearm.
Cesar Enrique Barreiro, 27, a U.S. citizen and member of the Lennox 13 gang was arrested in Lennox, Calif., for RICO charges from an ongoing multi-agency investigation. His criminal convictions include for aggravated assault with serious bodily injury. He faces federal criminal prosecution on racketeering charges.
Shawn Allison, 32, a Jamaican national and member of the Jamaican Posse gang was arrested in Bronx, N.Y., for attempted murder. His convictions include possession with intent to distribute and criminal contempt. He faces state criminal prosecution on charges of attempted murder.
Rodimiro Burquez-Cortez, 34, a Mexican national and Surenos gang associate was arrested in Provo, Utah, for re-entry after deportation and narcotics and weapon offenses. His criminal convictions include illegal re-entry; carrying a concealed weapon, assault, DWI, illegal possession of controlled substance, possession of dangerous weapon. He faces federal criminal prosecution for re-entry of previously removed alien, illegal alien in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Gustavo Morales, 52, a Mexican national and an associate of the Boomerangz gang was arrested in Reading, Pa., for federal offenses related to narcotics and weapons violations. His criminal history has a conviction for re-entry. He faces federal prosecution for illegal re-entry and narcotics and weapon offenses.
Those arrested came from 24 countries in South and Central America, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. Of the total number of arrested, 776 were males and 72 were females.
This enforcement operation is part of Operation Community Shield, a global initiative, in which ICE HSI partners with existing federal, state, local and foreign anti-gang efforts to share intelligence on criminal gang organizations and their leadership, share resources and combine legal authorities to identify, locate, arrest, prosecute, imprison and/or deport transnational gang members.
ICE HSI began rolling out Operation Community Shield Task Forces (OCSTFs) throughout the nation as well as in Central America in 2010. There are currently eight OCSTFs in cities including Baltimore; Birmingham, Ala.; Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas; Salt Lake City; San Angelo, Texas; and St. Paul, Minn., as well as one in Honduras. It is these critical partnerships with law enforcement here in the United States and overseas that enables ICE HSI to target a gang's structural leadership and criminal enterprise in the U.S. and in their countries of origin.
Since the inception of Operation Community Shield in 2005, through Jan. 31, 2011, ICE HSI agents working in conjunction with federal, state, local and foreign law enforcement agencies have arrested 20,373 gang members and associates. These apprehensions include 9,590 criminal arrests and 10,783 civil arrests. Of the more than 20,000 arrests, 249 of those arrested were gang leaders, 3,414 were MS-13 members or associates and 7,699 had violent criminal histories. Through this initiative, more than 1,600 firearms have been taken off the streets.
The National Gang Unit within ICE HSI identifies violent street gangs and develops intelligence on their membership, associates, criminal activities and international movements to deter, disrupt and dismantle transnational criminal gang operations by tracing and seizing cash, weapons and other assets derived from illicit activities.

The Montgomery Advertiser has a 60-photo lifestyle spread on "The home of Morris Dees and Susan Starr in Montgomery, Ala." Mr. Dees is, of course, the founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center, and poverty has been very, very good to him, judging by the staggering amount of expensive bric-a-brac he and Ms. Starr have accumulated.
I'm not precisely sure what Morris' wife is wearing in this photo (Barbarella's coronation gown? Or, as a reader suggests, a shower curtain trimmed with fake fur?), but the caption reads "Susan Starr models a jacket she made in her studio at her home in Montgomery, Ala."
This shiny thing-a-mabob with the #20 on it is described as "A poolside rickshaw at the home of Morris Dees and Susan Starr in Montgomery, Ala," because nothing screams Equality! like a fancy rickshaw.
It would probably not occur to you to acquire what might possibly be a matador's outfit to hang next to the washstand in an office bathroom of your compound, but then you aren't the main man behind America's most lucrative poverty organization, now are you?
This white and beigeish picture is described as "Guest house living area at the home of Morris Dees and Susan Starr in Montgomery, Ala.," but the contents remain enigmatic. What exactly is on the coffee table? A nest of writhing snakes? A ton of old horseshoes? And what's that spherical object behind the fuzzy couch? A giant ball of twine?
And then there's this objet d'art. I wonder how much hate Morris had to spew and foment to get the donations to pour in to pay for that?
For some reason, the article accompanying the 60 pictures seems to have largely vanished, but it began:

It is hard to believe the home Susan Starr and Morris Dees purchased upon their marriage 11 years ago was once a very small cottage originally built in 1923.

Nah, by this point, I can believe anything about Morris.

Many civil rights groups abhor the media whores at the Southern Poverty Law Center, because they exist primarily to raise money and do very little work. It is a spin factory fueling fears of an imaginary white ayran nation, in order to raise money.

Why hasn't the media investigated Morris Dees and his multimillion dollar house?

The most troubling aspect of watchdog opportunism is their infiltration of law enforcement. Watchdog organizations feed law enforcement agencies information in order to prompt them to go after their enemies, real and imagined. By alleging “dangerousness” on the basis of mere assumed values, opinions and beliefs, they put entirely innocent citizens at risk from law enforcement error and misconduct.
For example, following the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 the Southern Poverty Law Center gave the FBI a list of several thousand alleged members of militias and “hate groups” culled from its files. None of them had anything to do with the bombing. These names came from letters to newspapers expressing right-wing political views, lists of “members” supplied by informants, names from license plate numbers collected outside public meetings, pilfered mailing lists, and so on.
The possibility of a mere curiosity seeker or an individual with no criminal intent whatsoever being suggested to the FBI or BATF as “dangerous” seems inevitable. Along these lines, watchdog influence on law enforcement policies in tragedies from Ruby Ridge to Waco needs to be examined in detail.
[T]he Southern Poverty Law Center’s use of civil law to accomplish defacto criminal prosecutions without the benefit of appropriate constitutional guarantees, is simply wrong, and would be wrong no matter who did it. The rules of evidence and procedural practices in criminal cases are far more protective of civil liberties than those civil cases.
In civil prosecutions, for example, a defendant is not entitled to legal counsel unless he can pay for it, whereas in criminal prosecutions legal counsel is guaranteed, regardless of ability to pay. It has not gone unnoticed that most of the defendants in civil cases brought by the Southern Poverty Law Center are either indigent or of very modest means.
In February 1992 USA Today reported that Klanwatch, a division of Morris Dees’ Southern Poverty Law Center, had identified a total of “346 white supremacy groups operating in the USA, up an alarming 27% from the past year.” Included were 97 Ku Klux Klan and 203 alleged neo-Nazi groups.
What Klanwatch apparently did was list any group they could find mention of, including groups only rumored to exist. These included the large number of “post office box chapters” maintained by Klan and skinhead organizations. Some Christian Identity “ministries” consist only one person and a mailing list and many “patriot groups” consist of but three or four friends.
They also listed many groups whose actual affiliation is neither KKK nor neo-Nazi and who would argue with the designation of “white supremacy.” In short, they misleadingly padded their list.
A good example of SPLC disinformation occurred in June 1998 when SPLC spokesman Mark Potok responded to a newspaper request for background information on three accused cop killers. According to news reports
Alan “Monte” Pilon, one of the men suspected of killing a Cortez police officer and wounding three other officers, is a member of a local militia group linked to an extreme right-wing religion, a militia expert said Thursday.
Pilon, 30, of Dove Creek, is a member of the Four Corners Patriots, according to
Mark Potok, spokesman for the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit organization that monitors hate groups. The Four Corners Patriots is an underground militia linked to the Christian Identity religion, a faith Potok described as “viciously racist and anti-Semitic.
Potok further claimed to have been tracking the group since 1995 and estimated the group had 25 members. These claims, along with this detailed information, clearly gives the impression that the SPLC knows what it’s talking about. Potok’s claims were picked up by wire services and repeated nationwide, including NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw
One small problem: There apparently is no “Four Corners Patriots” organization. It doesn’t exist. Nobody in the broader militia and patriot movement had ever heard of them. My own efforts to pin down the organization were without success. Even local law enforcement couldn’t vouch for their existence and no evidence has developed that any of the suspects ever belonged to a militia organization.
The interplay between the SPLC and the media that depends upon them for information is complex and corrupt.
In February 1994 the Montgomery Advertiser ran a series of articles exposing various aspects of the SPLC, including its highly questionable fundraising tactics. In 1993, the American Institute for Philanthropy ranked the Southern Poverty Law Center as the “fourth least-needy charity in the nation.” Among the issues raised were:
The SPLC has reserve funds of $52 million...Just what the Law Center does with all that money is a source of concern. Some who have worked with Morris Dees call him a phony, the ‘television evangelist’ of civil rights who misleads donors...
For 15 years, people throughout the country have sent millions to the (SPLC) to fight the Ku Klux Klan and other supremacists. But critics say the law center exaggerates the threat of hate groups...
The American Institute of Philanthropy rates charitable institutions according to several criteria, including percent of income spent on charitable purposes, excess assets and so on. The Southern Poverty Law Center was rated “F” on a scale A through F. By way of comparison, the ACLU Foundation was rated A- and the Anti-Defamation League was rated B+.
Morris Dees [founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center] has been married four times, and in an appellant brief filed by Maureene Bass Dees in their acrimonious 1979 divorce she alleges numerous infidelities, homosexual behavior and a sexual interest by Morris Dees in both his adolescent stepdaughter and his daughter-in- law.
In all fairness, accusations and claims made in a divorce case may or may not be reliable. However, one must also ask how reliable are depositions, affidavits and testimony made by limited-income Ku Klux Klansmen who cannot afford legal counsel when faced with possible civil or criminal charges by Morris Dees. How many have agreed to say what Dees wanted them to say just to survive? How many legal “victories” have been obtained in this manner? Morris Dees and the SPLC must be judged by the same standards they have used to judge others.
Writing in a June, 1998, issue of The Nation, a leftist weekly, writer Alexander Cockburn observed:
"Morris Dees has raised an endowment of close to $100 million, with which he’s done little, by frightening elderly liberals that the heirs of Adolph Hitler are about to march down Main Street, lynching blacks and putting Jews into ovens. The fundraising of Dees and the richly rewarded efforts of terror mongers like Leonard Zeskind offer a dreadfully distorted view of American political realities."

Declairing Pamela Geller's group a "hate group" is politically motivated defamation. Please help set the record straight on this

I might be forced to adopt a rather cynical reading of SPLC's motives. A group that began as Klan Watch, back when the Klan still (barely) existed, SPLC has since had to reinvent itself as an all-purpose watchdog keeping a keen eye on the activities of groups such as... Civil War Reenactors, Catholic monks, and opponents of Islamic terror. Given the happy decline into obscurity of white racist and anti-Semitic groups (anti-Zionists don't count, no matter how many Jews they kill), SPLC has been forced to look a little harder for its targets. Since the only people outside of psych wards and tiny little compounds in Idaho who still preach the mass repression or murder of others based on religion are Muslims, and are by definition innocent, the standards for what makes a hate group will have to broadened a bit.
The alternative is too ugly to contemplate: SPLC might have to declare “victory” and go home, and its officers might have to sacrifice the six-figure incomes they earn by churning out letters that scare elderly Holocaust survivors into writing them fat checks. That money might instead be wasted on legacies to their grandchildren, when it could go to good use gold-plating the toilet fixtures on SPLC's glittering Poverty Palace. Men like Morris Dees would have to find jobs at Starbucks.
Without the SPLC to tell us where to locate intolerance and bigotry, we might find ourselves confused. We might look at foundations which funnel money into foreign terrorist organizations devoted to murdering Jews and Christians, and mistake these charities for hate groups. We might, when we read about blasphemy laws that target religious minorities, or social mores that goad fathers into murdering their daughters, somehow conclude that the creed which underlies such activities is in itself hateful. And that might lead us to assert our country's native values—driving us thereby down the ugly road of nativism.

CBP U.S. Border Patrol Stops North County Maritime Smuggling Attempt
(Monday, February 14, 2011)

San Clemente, Calif. — Today, California National Guard troops supporting the U.S. Border Patrol assisted in the arrest of 18 Mexican nationals on the coastline of San Onofre State Park early this morning after they were smuggled into the country by boat.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., guardsmen assigned to pre-designated detection sites along the southern California coastline spotted a person on an oceanfront cliff in San Onofre State Park scanning the water with a flashlight. CNG observed a panga style boat travelling eastbound toward the shoreline, and alerted Border Patrol agents assigned to the north county Coastal Border Enforcement Team.

Agents observed several individuals disembark from the beached boat and run to the nearby cliffs. Agents responded and encountered a total of eighteen individuals hiding along the cliffs. The group of 14 males, one female, and three juvenile males were determined to be Mexican nationals who had entered the U.S. illegally.

The Mexican nationals were arrested and transported to a local Border Patrol station for processing and further investigation. Agents identified two of the arrested individuals as being responsible for the smuggling attempt. They are being held in federal custody pending prosecution for alien smuggling. The boat was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

Agents Foil Smugglers, Nab More than $5.7 Million in Dope

Edinburg, Texas - Although the Rio Grande Valley was thawing out from abnormally cold temperatures, that didn’t stop U.S. Border Patrol agents from putting the freeze on smugglers’ efforts to get more than 7,000 pounds of marijuana across the border over the past three days.

Marijuana Seized by Rio Grande Valley Sector

The largest seizure occurred Friday in Fronton, Texas, when agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station saw a Ford pickup truck drive down to the Rio Grande. When the truck arrived at the riverbank, several people began throwing bundles of marijuana into its bed.

Once the pickup was loaded, it was driven away from the river at a high rate of speed. Agents used a controlled tire deflation device and deflated three of the vehicle’s tires. Agents found the pickup nearby at an abandoned house.

2,300 lbs. Marijuana Seized by Border Patrol Agents in Rio Grande City

As agents searched the area, they noticed the front door to the abandoned house was open and could see large bundles of marijuana inside. In the bed of the pickup and inside the house agents found more than 2,300 pounds of marijuana, with a value of more than $1.8 million.

In total, from Friday to Sunday, agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector seized more than $5.7 million in marijuana. The drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Busy Weekend for CBP Officers in San Diego, Imperial Counties

San Diego — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the ports of entry between California and Mexico were busy this weekend, stopping 652 pounds of narcotics worth almost an estimated $2.5 million.

CBP officers in the San Diego Field Office on Saturday and Sunday stopped approximately 467 pounds of marijuana, 147 pounds of cocaine, 29 pounds of methamphetamine, and almost 9 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice." The San Diego Field Office encompasses the San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Tecate, Calexico, and Andrade ports of entry, as well as airport and seaport activity in San Diego.

CBP officers found 62 packages of marijuana in this engine compartment, weighing 168.5 pounds

The largest narcotic seizure took place at about 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 5 at the San Ysidro port of entry, when a 36-year-old male U.S. citizen drove a blue 1992 Chevrolet Silverado to the border crossing. A CBP officer roving through the lanes of waiting traffic screened the vehicle with a narcotic detector dog, and the canine alerted. CBP officers escorted the vehicle and driver for a more intensive inspection.

During the inspection, CBP officers found 62 packages wrapped in cellophane, packaging tape, and grease/oil under the vehicle’s hood, containing 168.5 pounds of marijuana. CBP seized the vehicle and narcotics and turned the driver over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

CBP stopped more than 175 immigration violators at the ports of entry this weekend, including people with counterfeit or altered documents, imposters to legal documents that do not belong to them, and persons hiding to try and avoid inspection when entering the United States.

In one incident at the Otay Mesa port of entry at about 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, a 27-year-old male Mexican citizen arrived at the Otay Mesa port of entry pedestrian processing area. The man did not provide any documentation, but orally claimed to be a U.S. citizen and the CBP officer referred him for further inspection.

Using fingerprint identification, CBP officers confirmed the man’s identity and that he is not able to legally enter the United States.

Later on Saturday at the same port of entry, at about 11:30 p.m., a 37-year-old male Mexican citizen driving a white Ford Mustang arrived at the Otay Mesa passenger port of entry. The driver presented a valid resident alien card, but the CBP officer suspected that he was not the true legal owner of the card.

CBP officers confirmed that the card in fact belonged to the driver’s older brother, and that the driver is not able to legally enter the United States.

Also this weekend, CBP officers stopped 13 fugitives with active arrest warrants.

CBP officers enforce hundreds of laws at the ports of entry into the United States, including not just immigration and customs laws, but also agriculture laws.

In one incident on Saturday, at about 8:30 a.m., a 46-year-old male Mexican citizen with a valid border crossing card arrived at the Tecate port of entry. The man was applying for an I-94 permit, required for Mexican visa holders with a border crossing card to travel beyond 25 miles from the border.

During his inspection, CBP officers found 77 pounds of undeclared pork tamales. The man paid a $175 civil penalty and was released. CBP seized and destroyed the pork products.

Drug smugglers caught on tape 35 miles north of U.S. border

A weekend video clip posted by Arizona Border Defenders shows six drug cartel mules (lackeys that transport drug-laden backpacks) carrying loads of marijuana more than 35 miles north of the U.S./Mexico border.

Arizona Border Defenders is a patriot group dedicated to exposing the porous southern borders by using hidden video cams throughout the region in order to document the hoards of illegal traffic flowing north into the country.

While a great many of these illegal aliens are seeking a better life for themselves or their family, drug cartels are also using the smuggling routes to transport drugs often making for a dangerous trek.

There are several reports of illegal aliens being robbed, beaten or raped by desert bandits preying on unsuspecting migrants who are walking through the harsh terrain.

The brief hidden camera video clip points to the risky side of passing through the desert at night. Many of these drug smugglers will use violence if anyone threatens their ability to transport their illicit drugs to a hungry U.S. consumer.

These well-placed hidden cameras provide a birds-eye view of just how dangerous the southern-border region remains and prove America’s borders remain unsecure.

Border Patrol snares 31 illegal aliens along San Diego coastline

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested 31 illegal aliens yesterday who tried to unlawfully enter the country aboard small, panga-style boats off the San Diego coastline.

Just after midnight, Border Patrol agents, working in conjunction with CBP Air and Marine Branch, spotted a panga boat cross the U.S. international boundary and travel north along the California coast.

The vessel came ashore near the mouth of the Tijuana River, several individuals disembarked and then the boat quickly returned south towards Mexico. Border Patrol agents wasted no time and apprehended 14 individuals and placed them under arrest for unlawfully entering the United States.

According to CBP, two female and 11 male Mexican nationals as well as one male Honduran national were transported to a local Border Patrol station for processing.

“A second maritime smuggling attempt was intercepted this morning near Camp Pendleton, California. At approximately 2:50 a.m., Border Patrol agents observed a panga-style boat approach the shoreline near Red Beach. Several individuals jumped out of the boat and headed toward cliffs east of the shoreline,” a CBP statement read.

Border Patrol agents quickly responded to the scene and arrested 17 individuals who all claimed to be Mexican nationals illegally entering the United States. Agents transported 13 males and 4 females to a local Border Patrol Station for processing.

However the boat absconded back toward Mexico, before agents could reach the location.

With the deployment of the National Guard along the California coast, CBP and Border Patrol have been able to hone their nighttime observation skills and been able to foil many daring maritime entries into America along the Southern California coast.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

INTRODUCTION:
We can be enriched by legal immigration.
But, we are not enriched by uncontrolled, massive, immigration (legal or not), because it creates chaos and societal disorder.
Illegal immigration is not an issue about race, color, ethnicity, class, or nationality, since illegal aliens are of many races from many nations.
Those trying to make a race, color, ethnicity, class, or nationality issue of it do so because all of their arguments are weak and unsustainable excuses and common tactics to divert attention away from these serious problems and burdens:

Crime is a serious issue, but only part of the many issues costing U.S. tax payers net losses of $70 billion to $326.7 billion per year; some estimates place losses much higher;
burden on education systems;
burden on healthcare systems;
burden on hospital systems; 84 hospitals closed/closing in California; 70% of women giving birth at Parkland Memorial hospital in Dallas,TX in only the first 3 months of year 2006 were illegal aliens; same thing for this Florida hospital; border states are hit hardest, but it's happening in all 50 states in the U.S.!
burden on welfare systems; over 32% of illegal aliens receive welfare (often for their children born in U.S. hospitals at U.S. tax payers expense);
burden on Medicaid system;
burden on Social Security and Medicare systems;
burden on border patrol systems; ever increasing numbers are needed;
burden on insurance systems; illegal aliens can/will not pay for damages they cause;
burden on law enforcement systems; costing California billions per year;
burden on prison systems; 29% of state and federal prisoners (Sep-2004) are illegal aliens;
2.3 million displaced American workers; partly because half of all illegal aliens that don't pay taxes, and greedy employers that don't pay unemployment taxes, Social Security, Medicare taxes, etc.; Ask your Congress persons why we keep bringing in 1.5+ Million foreign workers a year to take American jobs when 11-to-25 Million Americans (as of Jan-2009) are unemployed (not even including the tens millions of existing illegal foreign workers in the U.S. and the millions coming to the U.S. illegally every year)? Most Americans want illegal immigration stopped now, and do not want another amnesty program (a.k.a. guest-worker program) that will quadruple the problem, just like the amnesty of 1986 did. It is despicable how many irresponsible incumbent politicians are now pitting illegal aliens and American citizens against each other for profits and votes! Irresponsible incumbent politicians have ignored this problem and the voters for decades, but the voters keep re-electing, rewarding, and empowering those very same, bought-and-paid-for, look-the-other-way, irresponsible, incumbent politicians.

BORDER SECURITY:
The U.S. can and should secure the borders and coasts, because national security and defense is the basic purpose of the military. It is a joke to pretend Homeland Security is important when borders and sea-ports are wide-open. What good does it do to deport criminals and drug-traffickers when they can stroll right back across the unsecured borders? It is a joke to talk about minimum wages when the government refuses to enforce existing laws to stop illegal immigration. Securing the borders, the right of any sovereign nation, is not isolationism or xenophobia. It is simply national security and defense. And common-sense. Also, it can be done quite easily at a cost of about $8 billion initially, and about $10 billion annually for over 153,000 border patrol (three shifts of 51,000). $10 billion per year is minuscule compared to the $70 billion to $326.7 billion in annual net losses (and some estimates place net losses much higher) due to illegal aliens burdening our education, healthcare, hospital, ER, welfare, Medicaid, Social Security, Medicare, border patrol, insurance, law enforcement, prison, and voting systems. $10 billion per year is less than the $10.5 billion in annual losses for California alone, due to illegal aliens. $10 billion per year is far less than the $27.3 billion for pork-barrel for year 2005. IT CAN BE DONE: The U.S. could easily secure the borders with resources we already have. We could simply position 153,000 border patrol persons (a mere 5.9% of the total of 2.6 million of our active military, guard, and reserves) along the borders where they could be more effective toward the goal of national security and defense. The U.S./Canada border (about 4000 miles) and the U.S./Mexico border (about 2,000 miles) could both (about 6,000 miles combined) be secured with a fence and 3000 posts (fixed or mobile; each spaced about 2 miles apart; denser in some areas than others) with a maximum of 51 border patrol persons per post (17 persons per 8 hour shift per post). That is one patrol person about every 621 feet (i.e. about the length of two football fields), or 8 patrol persons per mile. Also, the borders could have a fence and/or road that is patrolled with vehicles and monitored with cameras, thermal, night vision, seismic, and motion sensors. The rights of foreigners, that illegally trespass our borders, do not trump the rights of a sovereign nation to secure their own border. The U.S. is not for the public use of the rest of the world no more than your home is for the public use by anyone that isn't invited. We must enforce the existing laws and prosecute those that illegally employ illegal trespassers. Illegal aliens are burdening our educations systems, healthcare systems, law enforcement systems, insurance systems, driving about without automobile insurance, and bringing disease and crime with them. The primary purpose of government is to provide for the national defense. That is the purpose of the military. But, irresponsible government often misuses the military, and neglects the illegal aliens pouring across the borders. Republicans want cheap labor and Democrats want votes. So the government does nothing. A biometrics IDentification system, patrols, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, remote cameras, radar, laser, sonar, thermal, seismic, and other sensors and technology could greatly enhance the ability to secure the borders also. And, the Coast Guard could patrol the coast lines. What good is a massive armed forces of 2.6 million (active military, Guard, and Reserves) if we don't even allow a small percentage of border patrol to protect our nation's borders? See? It is not as far fetched as some want you to believe it is, it would use resources we already have, it would not be that expensive, and it would make the nation safer. There are common-sense solutions. Don't believe the excuses or false claims that it is too difficult. It is not.

EXCUSES:
Would you allow an uninvited stranger to come into your home, eat your food, make themselves at home, settle in, and perhaps invite a few friends ? No? Of course not. Then why would you allow uninvited strangers to illegally enter your community to use your schools, hospitals, E.R.s, jobs, welfare, Medicaid, Social Security, Medicare, drive about with no drivers' license or auto-insurance, and fraudulently vote in your elections? Most polls show that most citizens want the massive flood of illegal aliens trespassing our borders stopped, and many (if not most) are not in favor of amnesty either. Countless reputable studies show uncontrolled illegal immigration causes chaos and social disorganization. We are already witnessing massive burdens on social programs and doubled crime rates. Learn to recognize and reject the many excuses by those that either support or make excuses for illegal aliens. Most are hypocrites, since they don't want those illegal aliens to come live with them. It's always someone else's responsibility. It's easy for them to be generous with other people's money, property, and resources. They are idealists and bleedin' hearts that believe the myth perpetuated by pandering incumbent politicians, that we can all live at the expense of everybody else. This entire problem is largely a result of irresponsible incumbent politicians. Irresponsible incumbent politicians created the problem, tied the hands of law enforcement, and made it virtually impossible to arrest and deport illegal aliens. Why? Because Republicans want cheap labor (an under-paid under-class). And, Democrats want new votes. Yes, new votes, because an increasing number of illegal aliens are voting in our elections, and with elections as close as the Presidential election of 2000, every vote counts. Also, both Democrats and Republicans want the votes of the legal immigrants that are trying to get their 50 closest relatives into the U.S. also. Some legal immigrants resent illegal immigrants, but many (if not most) are not. Polls show that most citizens want illegal immigration stopped, and many (if not most) oppose amnesty too, because the last amnesty of 1986 quadrupled the problem. Another amnesty will quadruple the problem again, and the burden will quadruple too. Irresponsible incumbent politicians should be held accountable, but that is not likely if voters keep re-electing the very same irresponsible incumbent politicians that ignore this, and numerous other pressing problems that are growing in number and severity. Now, these extremely irresponsible incumbent politicians are pitting U.S. citizens and illegal aliens against each other. When they are finished with that, they will return to pitting U.S. citizens against each other by fueling the petty partisan warfare that keeps a majority from ever existing to vote out irresponsible, bought-and-paid-for, corrupt incumbent politicians. Stop Repeat Offenders. Do Not Re-Elect Them ! Unfortunately, if you dare to argue any of the many valid reasons against illegal immigration and amnesty, you will be called names and faced with a myriad of nonsensical excuses (from the pro-illegal alien crowd and their lobbyists):

EXCUSE # 01: Tradition:
MYTH: As George Bush said: "We are a land of immigrants". We can not pull up the drawbridge now, unless we dismantle the Statue of Liberty. Otherwise, we are all hypocrites.
TRUTH: This is a common ploy. Yes, we are a land of immigrants. Mostly legal. We are enriched by legal immigration; not by massive, uncontrolled, illegal immigration. You would not allow large numbers of uninvited persons to come live in your home, use your food, utilities, and space. So, why would you let them come into your community, uninvited, and use your schools, hospitals, ERs, Medicaid, welfare, highways, and vote in your elections?
EXCUSE # 02: Economics:
MYTH: The U.S. will crumble without illegal aliens. We need immigrants to pay the Social Security of the Baby Boomers when they begin to retire. Immigrants do jobs citizens won’t do. Who would pick our produce? Who would make the beds and wash the dishes?
TRUTH: This is another common myth, since illegal aliens are costing U.S. tax payers a net loss of at least $70 billion per year (and possibly as much as $326.7 billion annually). $70 billion will pick a lot of vegetables and fruit, eh? Guarded and electronically monitored fences along all U.S. land borders would cost about $10 billion per year. How does that compare to the $70 billion per year in net losses to U.S. taxpayers?
EXCUSE # 03: Humanitarianism:
MYTH: You are selfish to put the needs of poor citizens ahead of more desperate people in other nations, by denying them entry into our country. The U.S. is obligated to share with others. Large-scale immigration is a significant way for the U.S. to help the impoverished people of the world.
TRUTH: It is also selfish to forget to show compassion for your fellow citizens that go without because illegal aliens have stolen from and burdened our welfare, Medicaid, education, healthcare, hospital, E.R., Medicare, Social Security, law enforcement, prison, insurance, and voting systems. Also, without the sovereign right of nations to control their own borders and immigration, people in places where things are not as good will always descend upon places where things are better, ruining it for everyone. We can be enriched by controlled immigration, but massive, uncontrolled immigration (legal or not) is a recipe for disaster, chaos, increased crime, racism, resentments, and societal disorder.
EXCUSE # 04: Diversity / Racism:
MYTH: Increasing diversity through immigration is necessary to be true to our civil rights principles. Opposition to illegal immigration is racist. We are obligated to accommodate millions of immigrants per year because our strength is our diversity; the diversity of immigrants made America great. And, Christopher Columbus was the first illegal alien, and we stole the land from the Indians.
TRUTH: That is the old stand-by. You are a racist. However, race has nothing to do with it since illegal aliens are of all races from all over the world. Diversity is good, but massive, uncontrolled, illegal immigration itself leads to racism due to chaos, resentments, increased crime, societal disorder, and increased competition for a slice of a shrinking pie.
EXCUSE # 05: Irredentism:
MYTH: We have no right to secure U.S. borders, because U.S. borders are illegitimate to start with. The U.S. really belongs to the Indians and other neighboring nations, to start with.
TRUTH: This is another weak argument. If you want to use that logic, we should all give back all of our nations to the original inhabitants, or their ancestors. This weak argument is just one of many that demonstrate how weak all of the pro-illegal alien arguments really are.
EXCUSE # 06: Cornucopianism:
MYTH: The free market and technology will save us. We are the land of plenty. Besides, we need illegal aliens to grow out of our massive debt problems. They will become new tax payers, and we can grow our way out of debt.
TRUTH: Even if that were true, does it justify exploitation of an under-paid under-class? To attempt to remedy our own debt problems? This simply does not make sense, since illegal aliens are costing U.S. taxpayers net losses of over $70 billion to $326.7 billion per year. Besides, how can importing massive numbers of uneducated and impoverished improve the economy. 32% of illegal aliens receive welfare. 29% of all incarcerated in U.S. prisons and jails (nationwide) are illegal aliens. How will technology resolve that?
The U.S.:
- can not afford to fix the economic and political problems of all neighboring countries, much less the other nations from which illegal aliens originate (on other continents).
- can not afford the time and cost to fix Mexico, and even if it could, illegal aliens come from hundreds of the nations world-wide, and the U.S. can not fix all of them.
- can not afford to bring the rest of the world closer to our standard of living, without lowering our standard of living.
- can not afford to be the world police.
- can not afford to be nation-builders.
- can not afford to let every one come here from all over the world; immigration must be limited.
- can not afford to fix other nations' problems around the world, when we can't fix our own.
- can not afford any of it, because the U.S. already has $53 Trillion of nation-wide debt, and 80% of Americans own only 17% of all wealth in the U.S.
- can not stop illegal immigration with a border fence alone.
- must enforce its own laws.
EXCUSE # 07: Globalism:
MYTH: We live in a global economy now, requiring new global solutions. Securing the U.S. borders is futile, since it is inadequate to deal with globalization.TRUTH: This is a complete non-sequitur. Secure borders and a global economy have little (if anything) to do with each other. Nations have the sovereign right to secure their borders, and that is necessary, because without it, massive numbers of people from places where things are not as good would invade places where things are better, ruining it for everyone. We can not immigrate our way out of our fiscal and economic problems. Especially with increasing competition abroad, growing corpocrisy and corporatism within government, and an increasingly irresponsible, elitist, bought-and-paid-for, look-the-other-way government.
EXCUSE # 08: Practicality:
MYTH: It is not possible to deport 12+ million illegal aliens.
TRUTH: There is no need to deport illegal aliens. Enforce existing laws to prosecute greedy illegal employers, and most illegal aliens will leave voluntarily. For those left, we can help deport those that volunteer to be deported, but once the magnets are eliminated, illegal aliens will leave voluntarily. We could provide $500 (per person) and pre-paid transportation to each illegal alien volunteering to leave the U.S. That may cost as much as $12 billion, but it is a one-time cost, and it is still miniscule compared to the current annual losses of $70 billion to $326.7 billion (and climbing, year after year).
EXCUSE # 09: Racism and Xenophobia:
MYTH: You are a racist and xenophobe if you don't want wide-open borders and have any problems with unchecked immigration.
TRUTH: Racism and xenophobia has nothing to do with it. Massive immigration (legal or not) causes many societal problems. Greedy corporations and illegal employers of illegal aliens use the constant influx of illegal aliens to depress wages and boost their own profits. Pandering politicians do it for votes, despicably pitting American citizens and illegal aliens against each other for votes. The net losses due to illegal immigration are estimated between $70 billion to $326.7 billion. Also, crime rates by illegal aliens are estimated to be two or more times higher.
EXCUSE # 10: The Risk of War: MYTH: You are risking war by expecting existing laws to be enforced to prosecute illegal employers of illegal aliens.
TRUTH: This is more fear-mongering stooping to its lowest levels, and more misplaced compassion (if genuine) at its worst (i.e. more compassion for illegal aliens than fellow Americans).
EXCUSE # 11: A Wall Won't Work: MYTH: A wall won't work.
TRUTH: A barrier will work if it is also monitored by border patrol. And it doesn't have to be a wall. A barrier (or fence) is merely a delay mechanism to make trespass more difficult; it is unlikely anything can stop all trespass 100%, but giving up is not the solution; more border patrol is the solution; and where fences and patrols have been implemented, they have proven to be very effective, which is probably why the pro-open-borders, pro-amnesty, and bleedin' hearts are so strongly opposed to a fence and more border patrol.

The proposals to provide a Guest Worker Program is essentially a ruse. It is essentially an Amnesty Program, since illegal aliens will be allowed to stay, ridiculously complex rules associated with the Guest Worker Program will increase law enforcement duties and tracking requirements, many times over, and those laws will be not be enforced any more than current laws. And massive deportation is not necessary either. If the magnets that attract illegal aliens here are eliminated, illegal aliens will stop coming here, and many will leave voluntarily. Especially if we offer to pre-pay their transportation to return to their homeland, and provide a reasonable amount of money to help make their return trip home. Some may say that is unfair. However, U.S. citizens are justified to also have compassion for their own citizens, first. For those U.S. citizens supporting amnesty and a repeat of the 1986 amnesty . . .

Where is the compassion for the victims of increased crime rates (Source: GAO-05-646R, based on a study group of 55,322 illegal aliens over a 57 year period; 29% of all incarcerated are illegal aliens) ?
Where is the compassion for U.S. citizens that go without healthcare and access to E.R.s and hospitals which are over-flowing with illegal aliens (of which many don't pay)? Is this fair to U.S. tax payers ?
Where is the compassion for the truly needy U.S. citizens that can not get help because of limited resources and 32% of illegal aliens receiving welfare instead ?
Where is the outrage of the greedy employers of illegal aliens ?
Where is the compassion for the U.S. victims and survivors of crimes perpetrated by illegal aliens (29% of all prisoners are illegal aliens), and the crime rates are rising.
Where is the compassion for U.S. citizens who's lives have been changed forever by illegal aliens that spread disease ? One illegal alien in Santa Barbara, California infected 56 other people with tuberculosis as reported on April 24, 2004, by the Santa Barbara Press-News, "Anatomy of an Outbreak". Because illegal alien migration into the USA continues unabated for the past 20 years, we now have 16,000 new cases of incurable MDR tuberculosis in the past five years. We suffer 7,000 new cases of leprosy. We tolerate 100,000 new cases of hepatitis "A" in our society. Chagas disease, which affects 14 million South Americans and kills 50,000 annually, streams across our borders as unchecked thousands enter our society illegally. If your child goes to public school, they could be exposed, as thousands already have been.
Where is the compassion for the U.S. tax payers that experience a net loss of about $70 billion to $326.7 billion per year due to all the numerous problems stemming from illegal aliens?

COST BURDEN / TOTAL NET LOSSES to U.S. CITIZENS:
The U.S. has 300 million citizens (as of NOV-2006). There are about 12 million illegal aliens (some estimates place this much higher). But, only about 55% of illegal aliens pay federal income taxes. That leaves 6.6 million illegal aliens that pay federal income taxes. But, only 67% of illegal aliens are employed (the rest are children or elderly). That leaves 4.422 million employed illegal aliens that pay income taxes. Now, let's assume illegal aliens average $12 per hour for 5.5 days per week (287 days per year). That comes to $27,552 per year. After a standard IRS deduction of $5,000 , that leaves $22,552 per year. The highest tax rate (filing single) is 13.3647% . Therefore, that is $3014 in federal income taxes withheld per year (using 2005 tax tables). And, Social Security and Medicare taxes add up tp 15.3% of gross income. That includes the 7.65% paid by the employer, and 7.65% paid by the employee. Therefore, that amounts to $4215 for 15.3% for Social Security and Medicare taxes. That is $18.64 billion for Social Security and Medicare taxes. However, other estimates say that it is actually only about $7 billion. Nevertheless, let's continue with the much higher $18.64 billion. Therefore, the highest estimate of total taxes paid = $7229 = $3014 + 4215 . That is $31.97 billion per year = ($4.422 million * $7229) for all federal taxes. Note: none of that even includes deductions for dependents. Now lets assume the profit from their work is at least 16.7% ($2 per hour of the wage of $12 per hour) to the employer. Thus, the value of their work is $24.08 billion per year. Unfortunately, the U.S. citizens do not realize the entire benefit of the value of that work. Greedy employers of illegal aliens reap most of the profit and benefit from the under-paid/under-class. That is why a huge jump in prices is a myth, and even if it were true, the net losses would still exceed net benefits. Thus, the net value to the U.S. is $56.05 billion = $31.97 billion + $24.08 billion. However, the net costs to U.S. tax payers is estimated at least $70 billion (but possibly as high as $326.7 billion) per year (after taxes are deducted). In 1997 (nine years ago), Dr. Donald Huddle, Professor Emeritus of Economics at Rice University, found that total costs were as high as $139 billion, and net costs (after adjusting for taxes and some other net gains) were $69 billion in 1997. So, $87 billion in 2006 is a very conservative estimate, since Huddle also did not include the cost of displaced workers, crime, and disease. Therefore, let's use the smaller estimate of net costs (before deducting taxes) of $101.97 billion (i.e. $70 billion + $31.97 billion for taxes), which agrees closely with many estimates. At fairus.org, the estimate of costs is $87 billion per year, but that is before deducting the value of all federal taxes, which was generously estimated above at $31.97 billion. $31.97 billion is really over estimated, but let's assume taxes paid are actually that high. Therefore, the total cost after deducting taxes and value of work is $45.92 billion = ($101.97 billion - $31.97 billion taxes received - $24.08 billion value of work). That value of $45.92 billion is very close to the $45 billion estimated by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (fairus.org) which stated: "the net expense [loss] to the taxpayer from illegal immigration would currently be at least $45 billion" And, that $45 billion of net losses to U.S. citizens does not even include the estimates for 2.3 million displaced U.S. workers, unemployment benefits and welfare for displaced workers, tax deductions for dependents, cost of crime, and disease. Also, it is mostly the poorest citizens that are being displaced from jobs, because of the unfair advantage that illegal aliens and their greedy employers have by not paying taxes. Many studies place the estimated net losses to the U.S. at double that (ranging from $70 billion to $139 billion). Even if it is only $45 billion, that is not an insignificant amount. That amounts to about $1 billion per state per year. But, we know some states are impacted drastically more. Conservative estimates of total losses for California alone, are estimated at $10.5 billion. Some recent estimates of homicides by illegal aliens range from 12 to 25 per day, and the net losses to U.S. tax payers from $45 billion to as high as $326.7 Billion per year ! CRIME: Many illegal aliens commit no crimes (excluding the fact that trespassing itself is illegal), but if you think illegal aliens pose no threat or burden to citizens, then please read the following. Regardless of crime rate statistics, these are crimes that should have never occurred. These are crimes that could have been prevented: N On 13-Nov-2005, Brian Jackson, a Dallas policeman was shot and killed by an illegal alien, Juan Lizcano. Lizcano had become drunk and went to the home of his ex-girl-friend to threaten her. As the police pursued Lizcano after he fled the woman's home, he shot Officer Jackson, who died later in the hospital. Officer Jackson was remembered by his fellow police as someone who loved his job and always went the extra mile. N Then, there is Jorge Hernandez, a.k.a. Jorge Soto, who killed Min Soon Chang, an 18-year-old college freshman, in a terrible head-on wreck while Hernandez was driving drunk. He had been arrested 3 previous times for drunk driving in 3 other states, and he had been deported to Mexico 17 times! Why aren't illegal aliens aren't deported instantly after being arrested for drunk driving? N Debbie Thomas, who was the mother of three, was killed in a head-on collision on Christmas Eve 2003 when her car was struck by a car being driven in the wrong direction by illegal alien, Narciso Garcia-Jimenez. He later escaped from his hospital bed and is still at large. The car he drove had no inspection sticker and was registered to another person. When Debbie's mom learned that her daughter's killer survived and escaped after being treated at the hospital, she said she felt "angry, bitter and sad, all at once." N In Atlanta, Georgia: Mexican Miguel Carrasco raped a female victim in front of her four year old child and two minors; California Mexican Zacarias Camacho committed lewd acts upon a child under 14; El Salvadoran Oswaldo Martinez raped, sodomized and murdered a 16 year old; MS-13 gang member Reinaldo Ramos convicted of 2nd degree sexual offense for brutal gang rape of 16 year old girl. N Jose Ramirez is every father's nightmare. The illegal alien beat up a 15-year-old girl after whistling at her. He broke her nose, fractured a bone in her face and produced cuts requiring 30 stitches. The man worked in construction in Spotsylvania, Virginia, where the attack occurred, and resisted arrest to the point where police had to taser him. N Jose Raul Pena, earlier deported for cocaine possession, used his little daughter as a human shield in an hours-long Los Angeles shootout with police on July 10. Pena and Suzie were both killed. During the incident, Pena used a 9-millimeter Beretta pistol which had been stolen last year in a burglary in Oregon. His office at the car dealership contained a bag of cocaine and a half-drunk bottle of Tequila — consistent with the illegal Pena's previous deportation for cocaine possession. Videotape captured images of Pena shooting at the police while holding his daughter, yet his relatives are questioning not only whether he used his daughter as a shield, but whether he was even armed at all, according to the Los Angeles Times. N Esmerelda Nava, age 4, was recently strangled, molested and killed by an illegal alien who had been deported in 2003. The accused killer is Cornelio Rivera Zamites, who had been residing in Gainsville, Georgia. Esmerelda went with her parents to visit the 24-year-old Zamites. At some point late Saturday night, the child's mother realized the girl was missing. A police officer found her body early the next morning in nearby woods. Figures are hard to find directly, but it can be conservatively estimated using data from two sources: (1) By the end of 2005, there were an estimated 12 million illegal aliens in the U.S. With existing data, and using the murder rates in Brazil, Mexico, Salvador, China, and 39 other nations, and the Census Bureau estimate of 8.7 million illegal aliens (in the year 2000), and assuming those crime rates are the same here as in those nations, then the total annual homicides in the U.S. by illegal aliens are between 1408 to 2510 homicides. The total U.S. prison population in 2004 was 2.2 million. The average stay in prison for each illegal alien is 21 months. 29% of all prisoners are illegal aliens (about 638,000 of 2.2 million). Some estimates place that percentage of illegal aliens at 33%, but let's use the smaller 29% for now. In 2004, there were 16,528 homicides in the U.S. The U.S. population is about 300 million (as of NOV-2006). (2) In GAO Report 5646, for a study group of 55,322 illegal aliens (imprisoned for many different crimes), there were 5992 homicides over a period of 57 years in CA, TX, and AZ (between 1947 and 2004). That is an average homicide rate of 105.12 homicides per year (i.e. 5992 homicides/57 years). The study group is only 8.67% of the total of number of illegal aliens in prison. Therefore (638,000 / 55,322) = 11.53 which means the study group of 55,322 was 11.53 times smaller than the total incarcerated illegal aliens. So, multiplying 11.53 times the average annual homicide rate of 105.12 = 1212 homicides per year by illegal aliens. That is a bit conservative, since most crimes started occurring after 1990. But, that number of 1212 helps corroborate the number 1408 determined above. But, let's split the difference: 1310 = (1212 + 1408) / 2 . 1310 homicides per year / 12 million illegal aliens = 0.0001092 homicides per illegal alien per year. 16528 homicides per year / 300 million U.S. citizens = 0.000055093 homicides per U.S. citizen per year. 1.9814 = ( 0.0001092 / 0.000055093 ) Even if the smallest estimate of 1212 homicides per year is used, the average is: 1.83 = ( 1212 / 12 million ) / 0.000055093 Therefore, the homicide rate by illegal aliens is about 2 times higher than those by U.S. citizens. That figure above of 1310 homicides per year (3.59 per day) by illegal aliens is very conservative. Some estimates (such as this) place the figure much higher (as high as 4380; or 12 per day)! THE SOLUTION:
We should show some compassion for those that are merely looking for work and a better way of life, and have committed no crimes, other than illegal trespass of our borders a few times. But, we should ALSO show compassion for our own citizens who are being cheated by massive costs and burdens caused by illegal aliens. Making illegal aliens felons for merely being here illegally is NOT the solution. There are better solutions. Mass deportation is NOT the solution. Many illegal aliens will self-deport once illegal employers are stopped from employing illegal aliens. Illegal aliens do not deserve another AMNESTY (like the amnesty of 1986 which quintupled the problem from 3-to-4 Million to 12-to-20 Million illegal aliens). Illegal aliens do not deserve to the front of the line and be rewarded for trespassing our borders and disrespecting our laws.

Secure the borders immediately (e.g. with 153,000 border patrol; a number equal to a mere 5.9% of the total 2.6 million military, guard, and reserves).
Stop ignoring existing laws now. Immediately begin to enforce the existing laws to prosecute illegal employers.
Then pass a BILL to provide a path to citizenship ONLY for the truly innocent persons, which are some persons that were brought into the U.S. illegally by their parent(s) when young and have lived over N years of their life in the U.S., and are no longer dependent on their parents. This will be a painfully difficult and costly process, but one that will only get more costly and difficult until the borders are secured and the illegal employers are stopped from employing illegal aliens. Another broad amnesty is not the solution. Our politicians already failed to secure the borders and enforce existing laws after the last amnesty of 1986, so they can not be trusted again, and must first secure the borders and enforce existing laws before considering a path to citizenship ONLY for the truly innocent persons.
Require deportation of ALL illegal entries and visa overstays currently within our jails and prisons (i.e. within our custody).
Require ALL employers to use the Social Security Verification System for ALL hires. Prosecute violators.
Pass an amendment to the Constitution to eliminate automatic citizenship for illegal alien births. Stop the abuse of anchor babies to acquire Blue Passports.
Deny ALL illegal aliens a FREE K-12 education.
Deny ALL illegal aliens ANY and ALL public benefits (welfare, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, etc.), except Emergency healthcare.
Deny ALL illegal aliens driver's licenses.
Deny ALL illegal aliens college tuition.
Verify ALL voter's and employees' citizenship, before permission to vote or work (employers can confirm eligibility via e-Verify which is 99.5% accurate).
Biometrics could be helpful too to increase accuracy.
Provide pre-paid transportation to each illegal alien volunteering to leave the U.S.
With no more magnets (no jobs, welfare, education, etc.), the remaining illegal aliens will leave voluntarily. Allow all illegal aliens to leave on their own, with their own property. Those wishing to immigrate to the U.S. must get in line behind those already seeking to immigrate legally.
Lastly, voters must recognize that nothing is likely to ever improve as long as voters reward irresponsible incumbent politicians with 85%-to-90% re-election rates and empowering irresponsible incumbent politicians to (despicably) pit American citizens and illegal aliens against each other for profits and votes.

CONCLUSION:

If U.S. citizens continue to ignore this (and many other pressingproblems), then they will only have themselves to thank for the painful consequences.
No reforms are possible until one fundamental change is made first.
All voters need to do is the one simple, common-sense, no-brainer, non-partisan, safe, peaceful, inexpensive, and responsible thing voters were supposed to be doing all along:
RECOMMENDATION:
Stop rewarding irresponsible incumbent politicians. Stop repeatedly re-electing them. Stop rewarding irresponsible incumbent politicians that are (despicably) pitting American citizens and illegal aliens against each other!
Vote for challengers (see guidelines), rather than repeatedly rewarding irresponsible incumbent politicians that refuse to pass many badly-needed, common-sense, no-brainer, responsible reforms, and refuse to adequately address the nation's most pressing problems. In a voting nation, education of the electorate (i.e. the voters) is paramount ! The voters will receive their education (eventually) one way or another, and sooner would be better (and less painful) than later.
